Named after the British Royal Family's Scottish residence, Balmoral provides an exceptional cruising experience. Covering regions as diverse as Northern Europe and Scandinavia to North America and the islands of Cape Verde, there are plenty of enthralling adventures to choose from.

With departures from Dover, Southampton, Newcastle and Rosyth, Balmoral cruises offer the chance to explore some of the world's most spectacular destinations. What's more, despite being one of the largest Fred Olsen ships, Balmoral is small enough to take advantage of the tighter waterways along each route, so guests do not miss out on remarkable sights along the way, such as the Norwegian fjords or Germany's Kiel Canal.

As well as incredible scenery, Balmoral cruises provide the very best in amenities and dining experiences, as well as stylish and comfortable accommodation. With fewer than 1,400 guests, there is ample room for every passenger to enjoy the spacious venues and public areas, while still having plenty of chances to enjoy the company of others. Whether you're travelling around the culture-filled Americas or the Scottish Lochs, you're sure to have an unforgettable experience on board Balmoral.

BALMORAL BY DAY

There is an abundance of amenities and activities to keep you entertained during your days at sea, after filling up on your buffet or a la carte breakfast. As well as performances and guest talks, there is also a wide variety of other activities to partake in, including craft lessons, quizzes, ballroom dancing, painting tutorials and a book club. The Gaming Tables meanwhile provide the chance to practice Blackjack or Roulette, before trying your luck against the ship's friendly croupiers in the evening.

For those in search of a more sedate afternoon, the Library provides a quiet and comfortable space perfect for whiling away a few hours with a good book or a game of chess, with teas, coffees and chocolates all served in these cosy quarters. The Card Room is another serene space, with bridge, board games and jigsaws all proving particularly popular. With lunch time approaching, you can choose from one of Balmoral's six restaurants, or perhaps opt for a delicious Afternoon Tea at the Observatory Lounge, taking in the beautiful views as you savour each expertly-prepared bite.

Balmoral cruises also provide the very best when it comes to relaxation. The Atlantis Spa offers a range of massage and beauty treatments, including facials, manicures and hairdressing services. The ship's two large heated saltwater pools are also the perfect spot for winding down and enjoying the sunshine, with jacuzzis and sun decks for good measure. If keeping fit is your thing, you'll be delighted with the range of exercise classes offered on board Balmoral cruises, as well as the state-of-the-art gym.

BALMORAL BY NIGHT

As the night begins to fall, you can expect a fantastic array of entertainment on all Balmoral cruises. There are five large, stylish bars and lounges to choose from, including the dazzling Neptune Lounge and the laid back Morning Light Pub, where you can head for a pre-dinner drink. When it comes to dinner, Balmoral certainly will not disappoint. Whether it's a five-course á la carte affair at the elegant Ballindalloch, Spey and Avon restaurants, a casual buffet at Palms Café, or a cooked-to-order steak at The Grill, you're sure to be delighted with the quality and service on offer.

The after-dinner show is always a highlight, with a wide range of performances to enjoy, including cabaret, comedy and live music. The ship's orchestra then provides plenty of toe-tapping numbers to tempt you to the dance floor, or perhaps to just take in with a cocktail or other tipple. For a particularly magical end to the night, a stop at the Observatory Lounge to take in the soothing sounds of the grand piano is a superb choice.
