Full-time, Permanent (35 hours per week)

The role

Reporting to the Long Haul Product Director this is a multi-faceted role: the incumbent will closely support the Long Haul Product Director in all aspects of running the team and deputise for them in their absence.

At a strategic level key areas of focus for this role include improving efficiency and supporting the optimisation of yields across all Newmarket Holidays products, as well as assisting with coaching and mentoring the broader long haul team.

At a more day to day level the role will also be responsible for ensuring that long haul sells strongly throughout the sales’ cycle and operates profitably within budget, as well as the development of new long haul product types to meet strategic goals and customer needs. The role will also focus on delivering to customer expectations, both in constantly re-evaluating the product we sell and improving the service delivery across the long haul product range.

What I do

  • Directly support/deputise for the Long Haul Product Director, driving strategy and making all necessary decisions in their absence
  • Attend weekly Leadership team meetings and contribute to and give presentations as required
  • Drive efficiency through technology improvements and process changes, with a direct focus on delivering optimal margins.
  • Lead the yield management process across the long haul team, and work closely with other product teams to improve the overall Newmarket Holidays performance.
  • Constantly monitor and improve the service scores of the long haul product.
  • Market aware – constantly on the lookout for new ideas and new trends in the market
  • Develop and contract new products
  • Ensure that holidays have been loaded for sale accurately, are marketed on and offline correctly, and are operated to a high and profitable standard
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers
  • Sort issues quickly and effectively
  • Line manage and coach the Long Haul Product Manager and Long Haul Operations, Duty & Crisis Manager
  • Implement processes to enable the team to work quicker, cheaper and more accurately
  • Participate in the on call duty rota.

  • Flexible approach to working and adaptable to changing priorities as demands dictate
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel

  • Research & develop new product genres in line with company strategy

  • Source and negotiate with accommodation providers, DMCs and other suppliers
  • Ensure that allocations and supplies are negotiated on the most commercial terms possible
  • Cost holidays for loading by PI on to relevant business systems
  • Acquire tactical offers to utilise in marketing campaigns and funding for those campaigns
  • Line management of the Long Haul Product Manager and Long Haul Operations, Duty & Crisis Manager: 1FTs, holidays and attendance, performance management, professional development, L&D etc
  • Ensure copy, content and rates on all marketing material including the website is accurate and reflects the product fairly
  • Regularly monitor costs and sales to maximise revenue and profitability
  • Sort out day to day questions and issues that arise with suppliers etc. and internal queries
  • Ensure that the products are operating as they should.
  • Regularly check Reevoo scores and TM reports taking swift and appropriate action when problems or quality issues are identified
  • Liaise with Customer Relations about complaints actioning any changes required to improve the product
  • Attend travel shows and supplier meetings
  • Prepare and deliver product training for SCS and other teams as required
  • Source suitable photography when required
  • Be on the on call duty rota and carry out shifts according to the rota or as needed
  • Any other reasonable tasks that need to be done in order to ensure the smooth running of the Company
