Day One: Depart London Tilbury
Join Columbus in London Tilbury, settle in and set off on your adventure to Australia.
Day Two: Amsterdam
Call in delightful Amsterdam, with its canals and waterways, before sailing south to the sun. Relax as the days become warmer and you head towards Spain and the Atlantic.
Day Seven: Ponta Delgada, The Azores
Arriving in the verdant, mid-Atlantic Azores archipelago, there’s a welcome opportunity to step ashore in historic Ponta Delgada. The city has been a stopping-off point for transatlantic sailors down the centuries.
Day 14: Bridgetown, Barbados
Experience bustling, colourful, cricket-loving Bridgetown today. This Barbadian getaway is a gateway to some of the Caribbean’s most popular resorts.
Day 16: Oranjestad, Aruba
Beyond the glitzy resorts and luxury beachside retreats of Aruba, the island capital, Oranjestad, bustles with life. Take advantage of the duty-free shopping, try your luck in the casinos, or discover the cactuses, coastal views and abandoned gold mines of Arikok National Park.
Day 18: Cristobal for Panama City
As Columbus calls at Cristobal on the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal, there’s a chance to cross by coach to the Pacific and visit Panama City itself. Re-join the ship during the afternoon for the transit of the Panama Canal.
Day 23: Acapulco, Mexico
Call in the legendary Mexican ‘fiesta town’ of Acapulco. A full day here offers a taste of Central America in an idyllic setting that has withstood the tests of time and tourism.
Day 31: Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia
After a week of balmy days at sea, the breathtaking islands of French Polynesia are a colourful sight. Taiohae harbour, on tiny Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Isles, is your first chance to absorb the atmosphere of this languid, tropical world.
Days 33-34: Papeete, French Polynesia
Perhaps the most famous South Pacific island of all is idyllic Tahiti. Its capital, Papeete, is home to historic Le Marche market, the lush Vaipaha Gardens and a perfect lagoon, and seems to have appeared straight out of a Gauguin painting.
Day 35: Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Today, legendary Bora Bora, a quintessential island paradise, with mountains, lagoons and sublime beaches, completes Columbus’s trio of French Polynesian calls.
Day 40: Nuku'alofa, Kingdom of Tonga
Columbus arrives at the tiny island of Tonga, today. Disembark to explore the colourful, charismatic capital, Nuku'alofa, home to a bustling main street, numerous churches, the Royal Palace and a lively market brimming with local produce, handicrafts and livestock.
Day 43: Auckland, New Zealand
Cross the International Date Line before you call in Auckland, the glittering ‘City of Sails’ on New Zealand’s North Island. Step ashore to take in the Auckland Museum’s priceless carvings and artefacts, or to enjoy a trip up the 328-metre Sky Tower, the country’s tallest structure.
Day 44: Tauranga for Rotorua
Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most popular destinations. Join a shore excursion to discover bubbling hot-springs, gushing geysers and the traditional Maori culture of the Te Arawa people. Visit the fascinating Agrodome for a display of sheep-shearing skills, see the traditional Maori village of Te Puia and the wondrous Thermal Reserve, with its boiling mud pools and geysers.
Day 46: Christchurch, New Zealand
Explore the "the most English city outside England", as Columbus calls in Akaroa on the headland to the south east of Christchurch. Head into Christchurch and join a guided tour of the Garden City’s cardboard cathedral, restored historic tramway and Re:START shopping complex (built of stacked and recycled shipping containers).
Day 47: Picton, New Zealand
The pretty port of Picton shelters in the heart of the drowned river valleys, hidden coves and rocky headlands of the Marlborough Sounds, on the Grove Arm of spectacular Queen Charlotte Sound, and across the Cook Strait from the New Zealand capital, Wellington. Explore the city, and its museums of whaling, maritime history and local culture before the ship heads west once more.
Day 51: Arrive in Sydney, Australia
Vibrant, fun-loving Sydney is your final destination. Disembark the ship and head off to explore the iconic Opera House, Harbour Bridge and famous beaches - just a handful of the highlights of this wonderful city.
