Board Astoria in Poole today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.
Astoria arrives in French waters to call at Dunkirk. Spend the day exploring this historic city, which will forever be associated with the amazing 1940 rescue of the British Expeditionary Forces.
Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.
Hardangerfjord stretches over 100 kilometres into the Norwegian interior. Head out on deck to take in the full majesty of its epic landscape, where sheer, forested mountainsides plunge into still waters. Astoria's port for the day will be Rosendal, a pretty village that's home to the historic Baroniet Rosendal - a charming 17th-century manor house surrounded by elegant grounds and gardens.
The remote village of Flam is set in one of Sognefjord’s most remote corners. From here, you might enjoy an unforgettable excursion, boarding the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway, for the beautiful journey to Myrdal, before joining a coach to travel through yet more breathtaking scenery.
Today’s call is at Olden. This is the stopping-off point for a trip through the beautiful surrounding countryside to the famous Briksdal Glacier, part of the vast Jostedalsbreen ice-pack, which broods over the eastern reaches of the fjord.
This morning Astoria docks in Bergen. This ancient Hanseatic city of cobbled streets and medieval houses was the birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of ‘Mount’ Floyen.
Days Eight and Nine
A final two days are spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Astoria heads for home.
Bid farewell to Astoria and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.
