Vasco da Gama by day
With the emphasis firmly on rest and relaxation, the programme of ship-board experiences is unsurprisingly laid-back, with the Cruise Director and their team aiming to arrange just the right balance of organised activities to punctuate the days at sea. Try your hand at tennis or even basketball on the sports courts, join an exercise class, listen to an informative talk from a guest speaker, join in a hand or two of cards or spend time in the gym or well-equipped spa (which includes a sauna, massage, heated pool, hairdresser and beauty salon). And, of course, Vasco da Gama’s comfortable lounges, well-appointed cabins and outdoors areas are perfect for simply curling up with a good book.
Vasco da Gama by night
Dining aboard Vasco da Gama promises to be a real highlight of your wonderful days onboard. Three restaurants - the Waterfront, Waterfront Mediterranean and Waterfront Eurasia - offer flexible dining rather than fixed sittings, and the ship’s chefs will prepare delicious meals that combine the traditional cruise menus mixing international dishes and a selection of local flavours. More informal meals can be taken in the Club Bistro, which is located close to the pool on Lido Deck, and two smaller, more intimate dining rooms - The Grill and the Chef’s Table - are available to book (for a small additional charge). Pre-dinner drinks can be taken in a choice of stylish cocktail bars - a nightcap in the top deck Dome Bar, under the stars, is always a particular pleasure.
Each night, the main theatre-style Hollywood’s show lounge plays host to a cabaret showcasing the talented performers on board, ranging from renditions from West End or Broadway musicals, selections from the classic songbook, comedy or magic, while in the elegant Blue Room the pianist entertains. On each voyage, there are a variety of themed evenings to enjoy, many linked to your destination that day, which you can enjoy before ending your evening with a final turn on the deck, beneath the stars.
