Itinerary

Day One

Catch the Eurostar from either London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet International station to Brussels, then use the efficient regional rail network to reach Amsterdam, where you'll board Olympia in time for dinner this evening.

Day Two

On this morning's included canal cruise you'll have the chance to discover the Dutch capital's beautiful waterways, which are lined with quaint step-gabled houses. Return to Olympia during the afternoon for her sailing into South Holland's picturesque countryside, sailing towards the River Waal and Nijmegen for an overnight stay.

Day Three

Cruising south, Olympia sails into Germany. Enjoy beautiful scenery as the ship sails past Dusseldorf and stunning Rhineland scenery to reach Cologne, where she'll moor overnight. Step ashore to stretch your legs and enjoy the night-time charm of the city's bustling altstadt (old town).

Day Four

Explore Cologne's magnificent cathedral and bustling altstadt on this morning's optional walking tour, or choose to wander the city at your leisure, perhaps visiting the designer shops of Rudolfplatz and the Belgisches (Belgian) quarter.

This afternoon, Olympia continues upstream, passing the delightful town of Konigswinter, which sits in the shadow of the picturesque Siebengebirge (Seven Hills), to reach Koblenz, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle.

Day Five

Enjoy an early morning stroll in Koblenz before Olympia continues her journey, cruising past the verdant vineyards and ancient villages of the magnificent Middle Rhine. Look out for the legendary Lorelei, the fateful slate rock from which sirens were said to have lured sailors to their deaths.

This afternoon Olympia arrives in Rudesheim, recognised for its locally-produced wines, its quaint narrow lanes and its bustling Drosselgasse - the main street packed with bars and weinstube (wine taverns). Perhaps join our optional excursion that reveals the bizarre wonders of Siegfried's Musikkabinett and includes a wine tasting.

Day Six

Olympia arrives in Mannheim, where the Rhine and the River Neckar meet. From here, you can join an optional half-day excursion to the university town of Heidelberg to see its imposing, red hillside castle, before meeting the ship in Mainz. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city's beautiful altstadt, impressive cathedral and Gutenberg Museum, before returning to the ship for a last dinner and an overnight cruise back to Cologne.

Day Seven

Disembark Olympia in Cologne, this morning, and transfer to the railway station to begin your journey home.

Further Information

Itinerary changes

Please note that the 16 September sailing is operated in reverse, with embarkation in Cologne and disembarkation in Amsterdam. Ports of call and inclusions are all the same.

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Luggage

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

*This offer applies to new bookings made between 1st and 30th November 2017 (inclusive) and is valid on cruises departing in 2018 on board Olympia only. Prices shown when booking do not include the discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. The offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer, is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.
