Travel to Dundee to board Magellan, as she prepares to set sail.
Today is spent at sea, as you settle into life on board.
Magellan arrives in tiny, Toytown-like Torshavn, the capital of the remote Faroe Islands. The islands are home to countless species, and its inhabitants are guardians of a deep-rooted Norse tradition. Setting off on an optional excursion to other parts of the islands, you might cross the famous 'Bridge across the Atlantic', which connects the main island of Streymoy with the spectacular scenery and ancient wooden churches of smaller Eysturoy.
Today Magellan arrives at the stunning natural harbour of Seydisfjordur, one of Iceland's most beautiful coastal locations. With its collection of pretty, Norwegian-style houses flanked by high mountains, the town is a gateway to beautiful countryside and is known as the cultural capital of east Iceland.
Our next port of call is Akureyri on Iceland's rugged north coast. The area beyond this thriving winter resort is wondrously scenic, and today's excursion to the Godafoss Falls and volcanic Lake Myvatn highlights its many delights.
This morning Magellan arrives in tiny, exquisite Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords area. Visit the replica Viking farmstead at Eiriksstadir, once home of Eirik the Red (who left it to settle Greenland) and birthplace of Leif the Lucky, who discovered America. Experience a treasure trove of natural wonders, such as the glacier on mystical Snaefellsjokull, which is Iceland's newest national park.
Today Magellan docks in Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital. Sitting on a promontory jutting into crystal clear waters and framed by majestic Mount Ejsa, the city's brightly painted wooden buildings stand in sharp contrast to the stunning beauty of its setting.
Step ashore to explore, perhaps taking the lift to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church for a panoramic view, or witnessing geothermal activity at the famous Blue Lagoon Pool, and at the original Geysir.
Enjoy a leisurely day at sea, making the most of Magellan's excellent facilities.
Another relaxing day at sea, as Magellan makes her way towards the Shetland Isles.
The rugged, enchanting town of Lerwick is the Shetland capital, and lies surrounded by a land of ancient legend, traditional crafts and an incredible abundance of birdlife. Spend time in the town, or join the excursion to the 3000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Today, Magellan arrives in Kirkwall, the historic capital of Orkney, a mile from the waters of fabled Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sank in WW2. Wander the meandering streets and marvel at the magnificent St Magnus Cathedral or join a shore excursion to discover highlights of the island, where history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife all play their part.
Magellan's final call is in Newcastle, where you'll have some time to explore the city.
Magellan arrives back in Dundee at the end of a memorable cruise.
