Join Magellan in Newcastle, today, ahead of her afternoon sailing.
Magellan arrives in Dundee, where you'll have time to step ashore and explore this historic port town. Discover the city's nautical history by visiting Captain Scott's RRS Discovery or the 19th-century warship, HM Frigate Unicorn.
Today Magellan reaches the Shetland capital, Lerwick. This rugged, enchanting town is gateway to a land of ancient legend, crafts and an abundance of colourful bird life. Wander the town, or join the optional excursion to the 3,000-year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Klaksvik, capital of the Faroes' Northern Isles, welcomes Magellan today. The inhabitants of this remote Danish outpost are direct descendants of the Vikings, and still speak an ancient Norse language. Guardians of a deep-rooted Viking tradition, and canny enough to retain autonomy from both Denmark and Scotland, the Faroese live surrounded by natural beauty.
This evening Magellan sails on to dock in Torshavn for the night.
Tiny Torshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands. Explore its confusion of lanes, narrow passages and black-tarred houses with green turf on the roofs, or join an excursion, perhaps to cross the famous 'Bridge across the Atlantic', which connects the main island of Streymoy with the spectacular scenery and ancient wooden churches of smaller Eysturoy.
A day of Orcadian delights, as Magellan docks in Kirkwall. Explore the historic capital of Orkney, and visit its magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral. A mile away are the waters of Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sank in WW2. Shore excursions will include highlights of the island's unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.
The beautiful island of Mull offers breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and a spectacular coastline. The small town of Tobermory, familiar to many, with its picturesque, multicoloured houses encircling the waterfront, is a delightful place to explore, as is nearby famous Duart Castle, seat of Clan Maclean.
Magellan reaches Liverpool today, where you'll disembark after a wonderful cruise. An optional coach transfer back to Newcastle will be available to book.
British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise. Since some countries require visitors to be valid for at least six months after the return date of the cruise we recommend that all customers ensure that this is the case. Holders of non-British passports should check with the relevant embassies to see if any requirements and restrictions exist for any countries visited during the cruise.
