Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Dundee today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Three

Oslo, the Norwegian capital, welcomes Magellan today. Step ashore to find a lively, friendly city, waiting to be discovered. Head off by yourself, or join a shore excursion, perhaps to the Viking Ships museum, where a trio of ancient craft are lovingly preserved, or to the Kon-Tiki museum, where explorer Thor Heyerdahl's fragile balsa-wood craft is displayed.

Day Four

Today we'll stop in Kristiansand, Norway's fifth city, on the country's southern coast. One of Norway's most popular tourist destinations, Kristiansand is renowned for its beaches and Palmesus beach festival, its thriving creative arts scene, and as the home of Norway's largest zoo.

Day Five

This morning Magellan docks in Bergen. This ancient Hanseatic city of cobbled streets and medieval houses was the birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.

Day Six

Cruise past stunning scenery, this morning, as Magellan cruises to along the length of Hardangerfjord to the waterside village of Eidfjord.

Day Seven

The remote village of Flam is set in one of Sognefjord's most remote corners. From here, you might enjoy an unforgettable excursion, boarding the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway, for the beautiful journey to Myrdal, before joining a coach to travel through yet more breathtaking scenery.

Day Eight

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Magellan heads for home.

Day Nine

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark in Newcastle at the end of your cruise. A complimentary coach transfer from Newcastle to Dundee will be available.

We have cruised frequently with SilverSeas, Seabourne, Regent Seven Seas and without sounding too pedantic I would say that Magellan is as efficient and well staffed as them. CMV standards are very high. The only difference is the number of passengers- they are paying much less so there has to many more of them. Anyway the CMV formula is obviously working.
The principal reason we joined this cruise was because my wife had had a big operation and we did not want to fly.

The weather was kind to us and we had a wonderful cruise of the Norwegian fjords. The cruise ship Magellan, though showing it's age, was kept very clean and the service we received was excellent.

From the start service was good - not left hanging around. Felt welcome from the
start . Lovely cabin and excellent cabin stewart, who went out of his way to be
helpful. Lovely touches with the towels being made up as animals each evening and
a special one for my husband's birthday.

We found it helpful having the next day's programme left for us in the evening.
It was good to have your cabin straightened up each evening.

Food was lovely and really pleasant staff serving - friendly but not obtrusive.

We enjoyed the ports. We had been in Bergin before, but the other places were
new to us.

Edinburgh Friends
excellent holiday all round, cabin crew were amazing as were waiting staff. The only down side was the early evening entertainment (singer, Arlene?) in the captains lounge was very disapointing. All the other entertainment on board was terrific.
