Worst holiday we have had. I appreciate that not all these comments are to do with Newmarket Holidays - just the shuttle & the advise about back to back cruises.

We booked 2 back to back cruises over a year before we went as we wanted to try the Colombus & we like Christmas markets. The first trip was a waste of time - Amsterdam was, as always, good, but we go there often & they DON'T have a Christmas Market. Many passengers were disappointed about this. Hamburg Christmas Market was awful - completely chaotic & overcrowded. Bad planning to get us there for a busy Saturday afternoon, just before Christmas! I really was unpleasant & we ended up getting some stuff in the supermarket & going back to the boat. Then one boring day on the boat! This first cruise was 4 nights...we knew we would have another cabin number to move into but no-one told us what to do! Did we remove our cases or was it done for us? Did we get off the boat? What! Conflicting answers from reception. It was all grim the changeover day - much hanging around, unnecesarily! Back to Amsterdam. The Zeebruge, the highlight, as we went into Bruges, which we had arranged our own transport for beforehand. That was a good day - the best of the 7 days on the boat. We didn't enjoy the food as much as previous CMV boats we have been on. Felt it let the side down - nothing special at all. Same cheese every day - same sort of food too - Marco Polo is 100 times better.

I am not happy with Newmarket - I arranged the shuttle coach travel from Victoria to Tilbury beforehand yet I was told I hadn't. So had the hassle of ringing up about it which took a long time. No apologies. Nothing was explained to us about proceedure with changing cabins. Because of this we will not book with Newmarket again, although we have booked with you a few times before these ones. We shall go direct to CMV

Our purpose was to check out for ourselves whether or not Columbus was, for us, a suitable replacement for Marco Polo which we'd used six times in the past but which is now positioned mostly away from Tilbury. Certainly it proved better for us than did Magellan which we'd also recently 'tasted' but, for us, no true replacement for Marco Polo, being simply that much (too much for us) bigger. However, for anyone seeking a short, value-for-money break, we'd be happy to recommend Columbus.

Really nice pre Christmas break. The ship was just the right size for us and the amount of time spent at sea was great as most of it was at night

Really enjoyed this trip. The staff were fantastic the majority of the time and the food and cabin were great. A couple of very minor issues but other than that we had a great time and are really looking forward to our next cruise with you in October!
