Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Columbus in Tilbury today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Three

Invergordon's natural harbour, welcomes Columbus today. Step ashore to explore or join a shore excursion, perhaps to Inverness in search of Nessie. Golfers might make a pilgrimage to Dornoch, or whisky connoisseurs to the celebrated Ord Distillery.

Day Four

Today we will anchor off the 'stretched' village of Kollafjordur, in the Danish outpost of the Faroes. Step ashore to explore this remote settlement, with its ancient, turf-roofed church, and don't miss the opportunity to visit the island capital, Torshavn. The islands' inhabitants are guardians of a deep-rooted Norse tradition and live surrounded by natural beauty. A birdwatcher's Paradise, the Faroes are home to countless species.

Day Five

Today Columbus arrives in the stunning natural harbour of Seydisfjordur, one of Iceland's most beautiful coastal locations and the cultural capital of east Iceland.

Day Six

Akureyri, on Iceland's rugged north coast, is a thriving winter sports centre and home to a fascinating Botanical Garden. The area beyond is wondrously scenic, and today's excursion, to the Godafoss Falls and volcanic Lake Myvatn, will highlight many of its delights.

Day Seven

This morning Columbus arrives in tiny, exquisite Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords area, and gateway to the magical, mystical land of West Iceland from which Norse sailors set out to discover Greenland and the New World.

Day Eight

Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital. Its brightly painted wooden buildings contrast sharply with the stunning beauty of its setting beneath Mount Ejsa. Step ashore to explore, take the lift to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church for a panoramic view, or visit the fascinating Arbaer Folk Museum and the Saga Museum.

Days 9-10

Relax on board as Columbus spends another few days at sea.

Day 11

Our next port is the Shetland capital, Lerwick. Spend time exploring this rugged but enchanting town, or join an excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.

Day 12

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Columbus heads for home.

Day 13

Bid farewell to Columbus and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.

Better than expected, but cost of excursions is still and issue. We made the same comment after the Baltic trip on Magellan

Ship the right size, crew and captain outstanding, one slight criticism, the layout of the"palladium" left a lot to be desired, restricted views, clambering over people to get to available seating.

Firstly the documentation was poor and late. Parking details were wholly inadequate and misleading. Signage to the carpark was also inadequate. We did not know if we had all of the required papers to be admitted on board and were ready for an argument. Check in was good as common sense was used. Staff on board were brilliant- food great- cleanliness first class.
Photos for sale were a rip off. Display needed reorganising.
The fact that only one or two drink stations was disappointing.
7am evacuation of cabins on last day was most unfair.
Literature had several misrepresentations and inaccuracies.
The excursions were sometimes disappointing-on one we were taken to a shopping centre! We went daily on an excursion except when at sea and Kirkwall.
Overall, good value for money.

Shore excursions were too expensive for what was supplied.

This was a first cruise holiday for me and my wife and we both enjoyed a fantastic time. The ship was just the right size not too big and not too small. The crew were absolutely outstanding and did everything they could to ensure this was a memorable experience. All of the ports of call were amazing.
