Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Marco Polo in Cardiff today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Spend the first day relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Three

La Rochelle's sheltered position on the Atlantic coast has helped it become arguably the most attractive seaside resort in France. Wander through its pedestrianised centre from the Vieux Port, past the 17th- and 18th-century houses lining the Rue de Palais to the Belle Epoque Cafe de la Paix.

Day Four

Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque country and site of the astonishing, futuristic Guggenheim Museum. Famed for its friendliness and food - said to be the best in Spain - this compact city has a wonderful old town, the Casco Viejo, set beside a meander of the Rio Nervion.

Day Five

Relax on board as Marco Polo spends another day at sea.

Days Six and Seven

The Portuguese capital Lisbon is Marco Polo's next port. Stroll the narrow streets of the Alfama district, and climb aboard one of the city's famous trams. See the extraordinary Manueline architecture of the Belem quarter, and the striking modern buildings of the Baixa.

Day Eight

The Portuguese port of Leixoes gives you the chance to step ashore, perhaps to join this afternoon's excursion to the historic city of Oporto, in its pretty setting on the River Douro. The excursion will include a visit to one of the Port wine lodges and time for sightseeing. Why not take a cruise along the Douro?

Day Nine

Marco Polo's last call is in the historic port of A Coruna, or La Coruna. Step ashore to explore the atmospheric medieval quarter, stroll the extensive seafront promenade, or perhaps take a shore excursion to Santiago de Compostela.

Day 10

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Marco Polo heads for home.

Day 11

Bid farewell to Marco Polo and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.

When we booked our holiday we thought we were having two for the price of one, however when we spoke to fellow passengers who booked at the same time for the same cabin we realised we had paid a huge amount more. Very disappointing.

We liked that it went from Cardiff as it is near our home. As this was our first cruise we wanted to try a smaller ship and were very happy with our choice. The food, cleanliness and staff were all lovely and everyone worked very hard seeming to multi-task.

It was absolutely fabulous and more than we hoped for in every instance. Sailing from Cardiff was superb and we hope you are planning more of these holidays visiting France Spain and Portugal and other islands in the Atlantic . Everyone we have spoken to since our holiday say they were not aware of any sailings from Cardiff but will be looking for next year's itineraries. I know there are a few but not many. Please, please be planning more
