Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Liverpool today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Three

La Rochelle's sheltered position on the Atlantic coast has helped it become arguably the most attractive seaside resort in France. Wander through its pedestrianised centre from the Vieux Port, past the 17th- and 18th-century houses lining the Rue de Palais to the Belle Epoque Cafe de la Paix.

Day Four

Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque country and site of the astonishing, futuristic Guggenheim Museum. Famed for its friendliness and food - said to be the best in Spain - this compact city has a wonderful old town, the Casco Viejo, set beside a meander of the Rio Nervion.

Day Five

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day Six

The Portuguese capital Lisbon is Magellan's next port. Stroll the narrow streets of the Alfama district, and climb aboard one of the city's famous trams. See the extraordinary Manueline architecture of the Belem quarter, and the striking modern buildings of the Baixa.

Day Seven

Spend today in the very British outpost of Gibraltar in the shadow of the famous Rock. Search out a bargain in Main Street, and take a cable car to the heights above to see the famous Barbary Apes, and the views across the Straits to North Africa and the Atlas Mountains.

Day Eight

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day Nine

Magellan's last call is in the historic port of A Coruna, or La Coruna. Step ashore to explore the atmospheric medieval quarter, stroll the extensive seafront promenade, or perhaps take a shore excursion to Santiago de Compostela.

Day 10

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day 11

Today Magellan arrives in Dublin. This great city of culture, once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, is one of Europe's most engaging capitals. Grafton and O'Connell Streets are popular with visitors, as are the city's famous bars and pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

Day 12

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark in Liverpool at the end of your cruise.

A very good introduction to a number of European cities. The accommodation on board ship was good and the crew efficient. One criticism - disembarkation at ports was a mess as many passengers ignored instructions and priority was not given to passengers going on excursions.

Liverpool Couple
Lovely ship. Food & drink nice. Ports of call great (although didn't seem to have much time ashore). On board entertainment a bit hit and miss, 'The Bachelors' were very good, and the comedian. Enjoyed the pre-destination talks by guest speaker. Only niggle we had about the cruise was having to attend the medical centre after getting a large blister on back of leg, cost o£292 (£58 of which was for a small bottle of calamine lotion which costs £1.25 in high street store). All in all a great cruise, relaxing, and would recommend.

Prestatyn Couple
The weather was very unsettled at the start, with quite a storm when we crossed the Bay of Biscay. The weather was very warm when we got to Lisbon and stayed that way until we got to Dublin. I felt we travelled a long way for five stops and the amount of time in the ports was very short. We did not spend a full day in any of the ports. The entertainment was not as good as we have had on other trips with Marine and Cruising. The cabin was very comfortable with an excellent steward, we did have a problem with someone blocking the toilet further up the corridor, but it was dealt with quickly. The food was very good, especially when you think of the numbers being catered for every day.
