Tall Ships Festival Itinerary

Day One: Coach travel to Liverpool

Leaving your pick-up point, this morning, we'll head towards Liverpool. We'll stop en route for the chance to have lunch before heading to our hotel. After time to relax and unpack, dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day Two: Included Liverpool city tour

After breakfast we'll head to Liverpool. After a short coach tour of the city's sights, you'll be free to head to the Liverpool Waterfront and immerse yourself in the the festivities. Many of the ships will be open to the public, and there'll almost certainly be music, fireworks, dancing, art and special maritime craft demonstrations to enjoy as as the city celebrates its great maritime and sea-going tradition.

Alternatively explore the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in Britain at Albert Dock, visit the Merseyside Maritime Museum or head elsewhere to wander the galleries of TATE Liverpool, the Walker Art Gallery or The Beatles Story.

We'll return to the hotel by coach in the late evening.

Day Three: Included Tall Ships Parade of Sail

This morning we'll return to Liverpool, after leisurely breakfast. Spend a few more hours exploring, then join the crowds lining the dock to watch this afternoon's Parade of Sail as the whole fleet leaves port to begin the first leg of their voyage - across the Irish sea to Dublin. It's a breathtaking and unforgettable sight!

After the last ship has vanished we'll head for home, arriving back at your original pick up by mid-to-late evening.

Very good. Coach was comfortable, Chrissy the guide was funny and caring. Hotel was modern and our room was fine. We saw some interesting places in London before making our way to Greenwich.

We had a wonderful time with Newmarket. Excellent driver and tour manager, who couldn't do enough for you. The Tour Manager gave us plenty of information and map.

Greenwich is an excellent destination with so much to do and see. We were given plenty of time to see the places of interest before walking to the river for the Tall Ships Event.

As a party of 4 we all enjoyed this trip. The Tour Manager was informative and approachable. The Tall Ship event was fascinating. The River Thames cruise and the commentary provided was very interesting. I would also recommend the Emirates cable car, which was included in the cruise booking.

We felt that the time spent on the coach was excessive. Not helped by a long wait at Leicester waiting for passengers who had not been collected by their feeder coach. The optional tour of the river cruise involved a lot of waiting around with long times standing. One hour waiting to board the Pride of London was a real killer.

Coach trip from pick up to hotel, 6 hours, from hotel to venue and back to hotel 50 mins each way and from London tour home 5 hours. Far to long on the coach.

Let's not attribute this poor review to Newmarket. The problem we had was with the tall ship s event. I was in the Navy for many years and believe me if the Navy held a sail by regatta the ships would have sailed by with pride, pomp and circumstance, the tall ships showed no effort, no pride, no bunting, no crews on deck and so on, it was in my opinion shameful. The rest of the trip was great though.
