San Francisco, LA, Vegas and the Grand Canyon
Discover America's glorious western states on this fantastic escorted tour. Californian sunshine, stunning Pacific coastlines, visits to four of America's most iconic cities - cosmopolitan San Francisco, starstruck Los Angeles, all American San Diego and glitzy Vegas - as well as to the awesome Grand Canyon and stunning Yosemite - make this the trip of a lifetime.
Fly to Los Angeles and transfer to the southern suburb of Buena Park to check in to your first hotel.
Rest and relax, enjoying the sunshine for which southern California is renowned, or join our optional excursion to discover coastal Santa Monica's boardwalk and promenade, chic restaurants and bars, and distant views of the northern ranges. You'll also visit Malibu - the exclusive, beachside residence of the stars.
Take a brief tour of the star-studded streets of Hollywood, visiting Mann's Chinese Theatre and charting the history of the city's film industry along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then, head south to laid-back, sun-kissed San Diego. Check in to your hotel, and perhaps enjoy dinner in one of Old Town's many restaurants.
Discover San Diego on today's orientation tour. Highlights include the historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot and the Gaslamp District. Across the Bay Bridge, Coronado Island is home to the Hotel del Coronado, where 'Edward' first met 'Mrs Simpson', and Marilyn Monroe filmed 'Some Like it Hot'.
Today, we'll journey over the high sierra and into the desert landscape of Arizona for a one-night stay in the Wild West town of Prescott.
Travelling north, our first stop of the day is the geological wonderland of Sedona, where curious red-rock buttes dominate the landscape and artists inhabit the town. We'll then visit breathtaking Oak Creek Canyon to witness beautiful views of its pine forests and craggy cliffs, before continuing to Flagstaff for the night.
One of the tour's most unforgettable days awaits us, as we visit the Grand Canyon. We'll stop on the South Rim to take in the astonishing views across this immense chasm, formed over millennia by the Colorado River that still flows along the Canyon floor a mile below.
Take an optional helicopter flight for yet more stupendous views, before we head to Las Vegas, an electrifying city of spectacular hotels, glittering casinos and sparkling show lounges, for a two-night stay.
Today, you're free to explore Vegas' countless attractions. Check out the gaming rooms, vast shopping malls, diverse entertainments and endless dining opportunities of the Strip's mega-resorts, or join our optional excursion to the Hoover Dam - a man-made marvel of engineering. This evening, don't miss your chance to join us for an optional dinner show - 'The Rat Pack is Back'.
Today's long journey takes you across Nevada's desert, and over the high sierra, back into California. You'll spend the night in Visalia, economic and governmental centre of one of the most prosperous areas of California's fertile central valley.
The breathtaking spectacle of Yosemite National Park awaits you, today. See its plunging waterfalls, its densely forested valley floor and the towering peaks of El Capitan and Half-Dome, before we continue to our hotel in Tuolumne, in California's Gold Country.
For many, San Francisco is America's most attractive city. We'll stay here for three nights, and you'll be able to head out and dine in style on Nob Hill, or visit the famous Fairmont Hotel and ride the elevator to its top floor for the very best view of the City by the Bay.
This morning's optional guided tour includes Union Square, quirky North Beach, 1960s hangout Haight-Ashbury and stylish Nob Hill. You'll then head across the photogenic Golden Gate Bridge to the bay-side artists' town of Sausalito. Return via the Bay Ferry, taking in the sight of infamous prison-island Alcatraz.
This evening, why not head to bustling Chinatown, or to Fisherman's Wharf's shops, bars and restaurants? Board one of the "little cable cars" to "climb halfway to the stars", which takes you from Market Street over Powell and Hyde.
Today's journey south takes us to Steinbeck's Cannery Row in the coastal town of Monterey. We'll also travel along scenic 17-Mile Drive, and visit exclusive Carmel-by-the-Sea, known for its pretty, fairy tale-like cottages.
This morning, you're free to do as you please in San Francisco, before returning to the airport to board your overnight flight home.
