Deck Plans

Click here to display the deck plans for this cruise.

Day One

Travel, by coach from your selected pick-up point, to join Olympia in Cologne, the spectacular Rhineland capital. Enjoy dinner and, time-permitting, step ashore to soak up some of the city, before Olympia sets sail to begin the first, down-river leg of her cruise.

Day Two

After a morning spent cruising through the pretty, windmill-dotted landscape of Holland, Olympia spends an afternoon and evening in Amsterdam, where you'll have time to explore its canals, pretty squares, narrow streets and cobbled bridges. Why not join our optional canal cruise, perhaps the best way to experience the heart of the city and soak up the atmosphere on a summer's evening, before Olympia slips away south?

Day Three

Early this morning, we'll arrive in Nijmegen. You'll be free to explore this typical Dutch town or join an optional excursion to Arnhem, forever associated with 1944's Operation Market Garden and site of the John Frostbrug - renamed after the commander who bravely defended that 'Bridge Too Far'.

This afternoon, Olympia continues upstream, heading back towards Cologne.

Day Four

Step ashore to explore the delightful Rhineland capital, this morning, or join a local guide to visit Cologne's vast, twin-towered Dom cathedral and the surrounding altstadt (old town).

This afternoon, Olympia continues her journey into the forested Middle Rhine to the historic riverside town of Andernach. En route, she passes Bonn, Germany's leafy former capital; Konigswinter, beneath the scenic green slopes of the Siebengebirge; Remagen and Linz.

Day Five

Early this morning Olympia leaves Andernach to sail into the heart of the Middle Rhine. Passing vineyards and ancient villages like Bad Salzig and Sankt Goar, on the way, she'll cruise into the narrow gorge beneath the Lorelei, the legendary rock from which sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fate. Spend a morning on deck to catch the best of the scenery before our afternoon arrival in Rudesheim.

Step ashore to explore Rudesheim's narrow streets - many like the famous Drosselgasse lined with bars and weinstuben - and perhaps join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried's Musikal Kabinett.

After dinner, this evening, take your place and watch as a parade of illuminated craft and a fireworks display light up the riverbanks and transform the night sky with the blaze of colour that marks the 'Rhine In Flames'.

Day Six

Today, Olympia turns back downstream and passes beneath the watchful mass of the Lorelei once more on her way to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. We'll arrive around lunchtime and enjoy a relaxed Sunday afternoon and evening in this delightful town, where the rivers' meeting point is marked by Deutsche Eck (German Corner), and overlooked by the mighty Ehrenbreitstein fortress.

Day Seven

After a morning spent cruising lazily downstream, Olympia arrives in Dusseldorf. This thriving, elegant city is famous for its colourful, lively altstadt (old town), where you'll find a vast array of inns, bars and brewery houses that have given the area the unofficial title of The World's Longest Bar. Enjoy an optional guided walking tour of the city centre or explore on your own, then return to Olympia to join your fellow passengers for a special Farewell Dinner.

Day Eight

Say goodbye to Olympia and her crew, this morning, as you disembark in Cologne, where you'll begin your return journey to the UK.

Further Information

Procession and fireworks

Please note that the procession and fireworks will be watched from the ship. However, dependent upon sailing schedules and water levels, it may be necessary to transfer you by coach to a viewing point.

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your coach driver will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

*This offer is valid for new bookings made between 23rd June and 31st July 2017 (inclusive) only. Prices shown when booking do not include the discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. Single cabin full fares will be discounted by 50 per cent when the promo code is applied. The offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer, is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.

Travel very well organised particularly due to the strikes in Calais. kept informed by coaxh driver John of updates Coach very comfortable with frequent and relevant stops. Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Good quality food and service both in restaurant and bar. Entertainment good, particularly moving on to the deck area in Rudensheim to enable good view of the firework display. Many thanks to all the staff from Captain to taxi driver who went the extra mile to ensure our enjoyment, comfort and safety.

We knew the journey to Cologne would be difficult because of the problems at the port, but our driver, John was wonderful. We went by Tunnel on an earlier train than had been booked, but still encountered hold ups around Brussels. Once we arrived on board the MS Olympia our excellent holiday, truly began. The staff were friendly and fun, the ship immaculate, the food, tasty varied and plentiful and the company great. The Captain joined in our evening disco and was able to get us a perfect berth to watch the amazing firework display. During the week, we saw many other larger cruise ships, but everyone I spoke to agreed, that our group of 98 people was the ideal way of viewing the scenery in a relaxed , happy environment.

The holiday was delightful, in spite of the scorching weather! Travel arrangements were like clockwork, drivers excellent (we travelled when the port of Calais was closed to ferries and excellent arrangements were made for us to travel on the tunnel). The company on the boat was lovely, which doesn't always happen, and may I make a special thank you to James who took us from Bromsgrove to Warwick Services (and back again). Lovely man. Would recommend this holiday.
