Deck Plans

Click here to display the deck plans for this cruise.

Day One

Join us before the coach boards the ferry to cross the Channel, or book an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Ashford, Kent, and board our coach when it stops at the hotel. Later this evening you'll arrive in Boppard, the picturesque 'pearl of the Rhine', with its great Roman fort and its beautiful historic quarter. Board Olympia in time to enjoy a buffet dinner, and the warmth and welcome of your first night.

Day Two (New Year's Eve)

On New Year's Eve, Olympia sails to Rudesheim, passing pretty villages and fairytale castles en route, and beneath the legendary Lorelei rock - where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their fates.

Spend the afternoon wandering Rudesheim's pretty streets, or join our late-afternoon optional excursion to enjoy an early evening wine tasting at a traditional weinkeller and see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musik Kabinett.

This evening, join your fellow guests in celebration as you enjoy a New Year's Eve Dinner and Party on board Olympia, toasting the arrival of 2018 while ashore the people of Rudesheim enjoy their own revelries.

Day Three (New Year's Day)

Around lunchtime today, you'll arrive in Koblenz. Explore this traditional Rhineland town, then return to the Olympia, and round off your holiday - and your New Year celebrations - with a special New Year's Day Gala Dinner and entertainment on board.

Day Four

After an early breakfast, bid auf wiedersehen to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as our coach carries you back across Europe and across the Channel to the UK.

Further Information

Flexible joining options

Our flexible joining options allow you to travel on any date, and as an added convenience we've arranged two possible pre-departure options for you. Make your own way to the Holiday Inn Ashford North and stay the night (car parking is included), and our coach will call for you at the hotel on the way to the Channel.

Alternatively, make your own way to the Stop 24 Services in Kent (M20, Junction 11), and board the coach there. Parking is available (payable locally), and we'll confirm the exact meeting point and time in your Joining Instructions.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

This was my third trip and enjoyed all trips but I must point out the food was much nicer presented on the two previous trips and the waiting staff were more friendly and helpful on the previous trips.

Hitchin Friends
Very small and uncomfortable cabin , but the restaurant and bar areas were good.
On a previous cruise with Newmarket [Serenade 2 ] the food and wine were very good and we erroneously expected similar this time .
The House wine was of very poor quality and the food was heavily salted and limited .
Breakfast buffet was of acceptable standard although again heavy on the salt [scrambled eggs and sausages ] but once the initial issue had run out , it was not topped up ,
Overall impression was that the Chef was very inexperienced.
One could surmise that as the ship had been transferred to new owners [although Newmarket still lease her ] and it was an end of season cruise , that previous standards had dropped immeasurably but frankly should not be our problem .
But the New year eve party was first class , well done .
Ps , for newcomers to river cruising ,it would be helpful to advise coach travellers of the 50c charge for toilets at the comfort stops

Kettering Couple
The food and service on board the ship were excellent.the hot water system couldn't cope with most of the passengers requiring showers at the same time. Many people had cold showers. The coach provided for the transfer to and from the boat was more suited for a day trip than for a 6 hour journey with just a short stop to break it up.

Whitstable Couple
A really good break. The food was good.
The transit coach was uncomfortably cramped for space and the evening entertainment needs improvement.
