Deck Plans

Click here to display the deck plans for this cruise.

Day One

Join us before our coach boards the ferry to cross the Channel, or book an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Ashford, Kent, and board our coach when it stops at the hotel. Later this evening you'll arrive in Boppard, the picturesque 'pearl of the Rhine', with its great Roman fort and its beautiful historic quarter. Board Olympia in time to enjoy a buffet dinner, and the warmth and welcome of your first night.

Day Two

Early risers will be awake to see Olympia begin her journey, passing fairytale castles and beneath the legendary Lorelei (where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their end), to alight at Rudesheim.

Here the famous Drosselgasse - lined with Weinstuben (wine taverns) and restaurants - bustles with life. Spend the afternoon soaking up the atmosphere of Rudesheim's famous Christmas market, which features Europe's largest Nativity Scene, then perhaps join our late-afternoon optional excursion to an early evening wine tasting and to see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musikkabinett.

Day Three

Around lunchtime, Olympia will arrive in Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Step ashore to take in the atmosphere as you wander the stalls of the town's own Christmas Market, pausing to watch the skaters on the market's rink.

Alternatively, join our optional excursion to Cochem. Situated alongside the Moselle River, this pretty town of quaint cottages and winding streets hosts an excellent Christmas market in its beautiful medieval square.

Later, enjoy a final evening aboard Olympia, perhaps taking part in a quiz, or simply enjoying a performance by the on-board pianist.

Day Four

After an early breakfast, bid auf wiedersehen to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as our coach carries you back across Europe and across the Channel to the UK.

Further Information

Flexible joining options

Our flexible joining options allow you to travel on any date, and as an added convenience we've arranged two possible pre-departure options for you. Make your own way to the Holiday Inn Ashford North and stay the night (car parking is included), and our coach will call for you at the hotel on the way to the Channel.

Alternatively, make your own way to the Stop 24 Services in Kent (M20, Junction 11), and board the coach there. Parking is available (payable locally), and we'll confirm the exact meeting point and time in your Joining Instructions.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Birmingham Couple
Lovely holiday on board the Olympia enjoyed our visit to Rudesheim but felt the Courier should have told us the town including bars would close early on Sundays and the Cable car in Koblenz only ran at weekends

Reydon, Southwold Couple
This was our 3rd time on board Olympia, love the ship, the crew are lovely, the food fantastic, but we were a little disappointed with the Christmas markets! Not a patch on Brussels! So would not recommend this cruise but do recommend your other cruises, often.

Kingston Couple
We had some trepidation about booking this cruise as we had previously had a bad experience with Newmarket and our resulting complaint was not handled well. However we decided that once on the boat the trip should be good. It is a long haul to Boppard but Nigel, our coach driver made good time and the ferries and traffic were with us most of the way. We arrived at the boat in good time for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at the standard of the cabin although it was a twin. The beds were made up every evening and taken down every morning. The meals were excellent and there was not one meal that was disappointing. The onboard inclusive drinks package was also great value and a must if you drink water, wine, or beer. The staff were great and could not do enough for you and the barman soon got to know who we were and which drinks we wanted. The onboard entertainment was not that good although he was suppose to be the best on the Rhine? I feel sorry for other boats then......Our cruise manager, Peter was efficient and knew his product, and I would like to have him in our corner if we had a problem. However, there was something about him we didn't like, I think his overall personality and it was his way or the highway on the boat. We took the excursion to Bonn. Forget it. It took 75 minutes to get there and we had two hours which was nowhere near enough time to see the market let alone the city itself then 75 minutes to get back to the boat. This excursion would be better as a longer trip with a packed lunch. I would recommend this trip to anyone wishing to see the Rudesheim Christmas market as this was undoubtedly the best, and incorporating a modicum of luxury and excellent food. I would say though that as my wife has difficulty walking it would have been nice to have had booked seats on the coach closer to the front rather than an Easyjet type take your pick of the seats left. That way my wife would not have had to negotiate getting past several people to get on and off the bus. At the start of the cruise we stayed at the Holiday Inn Ashford. A pleasant hotel with nice rooms. Worth the extra to avoid the lengthy coach pick ups in the morning. We did ask to change our room though as apparently Newmaket always book twin rooms????!! Probably better if Newmarket spoke to their customers and asked which type of room is preferred?
