Bletchley Park Coach Trip Itinerary

Day One: Optional Blenheim Palace guided tour

Leaving your pick-up point in the morning we'll head to beautiful Oxford, the "city of dreaming spires". Explore the colleges, such as imposing Christ Church, head to the shops of the charming Covered Market, or simply relax and enjoy afternoon tea at England's first coffee house, the Grand Cafe.

Alternatively, join our optional excursion to stunning Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Learn some of the stories and secrets of this historic palace on a guided tour, marvel at the English Baroque architecture, and wander the award-winning formal gardens and 2000 acres of 'Capability' Brown's parkland. We'll arrive back at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day Two: Included Bletchley Park tour

Find out how the intelligence produced at 'Station X' shortened the Second World War by two years on today's fascinating Bletchley Park self-guided tour, using excellent, multi-media guides. See the famous German 'Enigma' code cipher machines up close; and visit Bletchley's wartime sub-post office, believed to be an undercover mailroom with the secret address of PO Box 111 Bletchley.

In the afternoon we'll head home, arriving back at your original pick-up point by early-to-mid evening.

Further Information

Bletchley Park self-guided tour

Please note that there is a significant amount of walking involved in the self-guided tour at Bletchley Park. You will cover approximately one mile, with stops throughout.

Museum entrance fees

There is a small on-site charge to enter the National Museum of Computing and the Colossus and Tunny galleries.

Coach seating arrangements

Your seats on the main coach will be allocated for you in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible. Your Tour Manager or driver will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

The tension in the seat belts was so hard it made them difficult to use and uncomfortable to wear. The driver took a few wrong turns when going to the hotel, resulting in us being pressed for time for dinner. This was made worse by the difficulty in finding our room in the hotel.

Overall content of the trip was excellent.
Once we arrived in Oxford we had enough time to take an open-top bus tour (which I did) and to explore individually. Thankfully I didn't opt for Blenheim!
The Hotel was excellent; both my single accommodation and the food. It was, however, about an hour and a half from Blenheim where we had to collect the optional excursion contingent before driving on to Hemel Hempstead.
Bletchley Park on Sunday was outstanding, and we had about five hours there.

The major downside, as with all Newmarket short breaks, was the time spent on the coach travelling between pick-up points, destinations and taking breaks for 'driver's hours'. Persistant late arrivers for a timed departure also delayed us at each place.
I was fortunate to have been a later pick-up so thankfully an early drop-off Sunday evening.

Very good, what wasn't very good was having to pick up people which took alot of time , would be better if we all met in one place, the first day we were in the coach for eight hrs,not counting the time in Oxford,it made a long time before we got to the hotel at night.
