Day One

This morning you'll fly to Croatia. Our Newmarket Tour Manager will meet you at Dubrovnik airport, and our coach will carry you to Lapad Bay and your chosen hotel. Relax after your journey, or stroll along the tree-lined pathways and waterfront promenades, before dinner is served this evening.

Day Two

Today you're free to explore your beautiful surroundings and relax in the hotel. Soak up the sun on the beach, take a walk in the woods, or relax with a drink at one of the bars and cafes along the promenade as the sun sets.

Day Three

Discover the stunning, walled city of Dubrovnik on today's included excursion. See the Old Town, bustling Luza Square, and the magnificent St Blaise's Church on the guided, walking tour. Then look out on Dubrovnik from the city walls and enjoy an afternoon sightseeing or shopping at leisure, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Day Four

Journey south today to beautiful Montenegro. See the spectacular Bay of Kotor - Southern Europe's largest fjord, explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor itself, and visit Budva, one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic, and now a picturesque and thriving holiday resort with beautiful beaches and stunning surroundings.

Day Five

Today you're free to relax or to join our optional excursion and travel through the wildlife paradise of the River Neretva delta along the gradually narrowing river gorge, into Bosnia-Herzegovina. We'll stop in Mostar to wander the pretty cobbled streets, visit the 17th-century Koski Mehmed pasa Mosque and perhaps purchase some local craftware at the colourful market, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Day Six

Follow the coastline north to Orebic and cross to the lovely island of Korcula, today. See the ruined fortifications, narrows streets and cafe-lined main square of the main town on a guided walking tour, and explore the beautiful cathedral (entry included). Continually inhabited for at least 6000 years, the island has a long and fascinating history, and some say it was the birthplace of Marco Polo.

Day Seven

Sail to the offshore Elaphiti (Deer Islands) on today's included cruise. Discover the sandy beach of tiny Kolocep, and perhaps - depending on the captain's decision - neighbouring Lopud, former watering hole of Dubrovnik's nobility. We'll return to the hotel in time for a farewell dinner.

Day Eight

We leave Dubrovnik and transfer to the airport for your flight home at the end of an unforgettable holiday to Croatia.

Hotel Argosy ★★★★

A good holiday, 3 star hotel was as expected. One of the coaches on an excursion was poor, though coach drivers throughout very good. Our Tour Manager Ana was very good, really helpful and made our holiday that little bit more special.

Croatia is a great place to visit but not with Newmarket Holidays. Their tour manager was the worst we have come across as she was uninterested in our group and surly . The welcome brief was shambolic and the excursions were poor value for money and could have been much more informative.

I have been with Newmarket holidays before and have enjoyed them but after this experience I would think twice about going with them again.

Having enjoyed a similar tour with you last year when we had a tour guide with us all the time, we were a little disappointed to find that this year we did not have a resident guide with us and the one that accompanied us on our excusions spoke very poor English. She admitted that she usually speaks German. Some excursions lacked special guidance and local knowledge and this led to people being unaware of all the facilities and opportunities available to them. Also because we were picking up other members of the tour from various other hotels, our time in some places was limited and we did not feel we had sufficient time to explore.

Overall this was an excellent holiday. Hotel Astarea in Mlini was perfect for us. It was a quiet relaxed resort with excellent links to Dubrovnik, Cavtat and the islands. You can visit these easily by bus or better still by the frequent boat trips.

For this reason I would recommend booking the version of this holiday where the excursions are optional. The Dubrovnik trip was a waste as you had to find you own way home afterwards anyway. The Mostar trip was very good but be prepared for a very long drive. The boat trip could be done by yourself, but was very good. The first half of the Montenegro trip was enjoyable, but then you are driven off to a terribly bland resort that felt like the worst of Benidorm.

Unfortunately our tour manager seemed to be an emergency stand in who didn't speak very good English, but her German was excellent. It did make it hard to pick up any useful information about the places we went. Presumably that wouldn't normally be the case. By the way do go to Cavtat, it was the best place we visited on all our trips. A beautiful harbour full of restaurants and surrounded by lovely walks.
