Day One

Fly to Germany, and transfer to the Olympia. Depending upon your arrival time, you may be able to explore the delightful 'Pearl of the Rhine', Boppard, which sits on the southern side of a great horseshoe bend in the river.

Day Two (Christmas Eve)

Early risers will be awake on Christmas Eve as Olympia begins her journey, past little villages, fairytale castles and beneath the legendary Lorelei rock (where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their fates), to Rudesheim.

Spend the afternoon wandering Rudesheim's pretty streets, or join our late-afternoon optional excursion to enjoy an early evening wine tasting and see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musik Kabinett, before returning to Olympia for a special Christmas Eve dinner.

Day Three (Christmas Day)

A very relaxed Christmas Day sees Olympia sail downriver to Koblenz and Konigswinter, one of the Rhine's most delightful cities. Enjoy a celebration Christmas Night Dinner Party on board with a traditional Turkey meal on board, with live music.

Day Four (Boxing Day)

On Boxing Day, Olympia cruises back to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, and there's the chance to enjoy an optional excursion to the exquisite wine-producing town of Cochem, picturesquely set on the bank of the Moselle, the Rhine's pretty, smaller sister. The visit will include a chance for you to taste the lovely wines for which the region is famed, before returning to Olympia for a final evening's relaxation.

Day Five

Bid "auf wiedersehen" to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as you return to the airport for your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Have written to company with suggestions would have liked Christmas theme from uk company to reflect in food. Not enough relevant information regarding places of interest. Disgraceful last day as felt the moment left ship no longer Newmarket responsibility when should have been right up to going through airport security.

I thought the Christmas day lunch was rather sparce. The turkey dinner stated on the menu to have "all the trimmings". The only trimming was some stuffing. No Yorkshire pud, no pigs in blankets and very little else.

I was very upset to be denied a table in the bar. There was one table occupied by a lone lady. We asked if all seats were taken and she said she was saving them for her husband and her friend. We were left to sit on very high stalls at the bar each night, because this lady was allowed to "reserve" the same table with her book and cushion. We were generally the last to arrive, not wanting to rush our food in order to rush to the bar for a table. It evolved that the friend was the Newmarket coach driver and her husband was the cruise director, neither of whom sat with her on the first night and only briefly on other nights. She also needed one seat for her feet to rest upon. I am told that after we tried to sit at "her" table, two much older ladies also asked to sit and were also refused. This is not a practice that should be condoned by the staff on board. I would like some feedback for this matter please.

We did only one wine tasting excursion where we were told the cruise director had said there was no need for us to be taken to the area where the grapes were processed and bottled. We were a captive audience for a very boring wine producer who was drinking far more than he was giving to us.

The cruise staff, especially in the restaurant, were excellent.

We were told by tour manager that Germany closed down over Christmas . On Christmas Eve the Christmas market closed at midday , we didn't arrive in Rudesheim until after lunch .

Food very poor .
Breakfast was a buffet and acceptable.

Christmas lunch ! ,
prawn cocktail, prawns had not been cleaned .
Slice of turkey , teaspoon of cranberry sauce , 7 sprouts , 3 tiny potatoes. Christmas pudding not the best .

Vegetarian option ,
Omelette !.

Although waiter a very pleasant friendly person he kept clearing table , not waiting for everyone to finish their meals , at times leaning across person eating to remove plate from person sat next to them .

Arrived aprox 11.30, not offered a drink of any kind,we had to wait till 20.15 before we had anything to drink. The food was tasty, but not enough, on the last evening one fellow passenger asked for more and was told they had run out of food, on the return home, an elderly gentleman on his 80s travelling alone, was put on the wrong coach, when we reached Frankfurt city centre he was clearly distressed and muddled as he should have been at the airport, to which my daughter to phone Newmarket Holiday to sort this out as we could not contact the boat, hope he got home. All in all not very good,no Christmas spirit at all.

When we booked we were assured that our cabin would have a hotel style bed but it in fact had two pull down beds. The food was poor. Christmas lunch was disappointing to say the least with the option to Turkey being an omelette. The Olympia lacks comfort in the bar/lounge and cabin. A disappointing Christmas.

Bristol Couple
The food was very disappointing especially the Christmas dinner and breakfast was especially poor. The cruise manager was condescending and not a people's person. If we were to do this trip again we would go up market and use Viking or something similar. Met some lovely people on board but wouldn't use newmarket again to do this trip. I suppose you get what you pay for!!. A lot of elderly people strugged with the stairs. A lift should be installed.
