Day One

Fly to Germany, and transfer to the Olympia. Depending upon your arrival time, you may be able to explore the delightful 'Pearl of the Rhine', Boppard, which sits on the southern side of a great horseshoe bend in the river.

Day Two (Christmas Eve)

Early risers will be awake on Christmas Eve as Olympia begins her journey, past little villages, fairytale castles and beneath the legendary Lorelei rock (where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their fates), to Rudesheim.

Spend the afternoon wandering Rudesheim's pretty streets, or join our late-afternoon optional excursion to enjoy an early evening wine tasting and see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musik Kabinett, before returning to Olympia for a special Christmas Eve dinner.

Day Three (Christmas Day)

A very relaxed Christmas Day sees Olympia sail downriver to Koblenz and Konigswinter, one of the Rhine's most delightful cities. Enjoy a celebration Christmas Night Dinner Party on board with a traditional Turkey meal on board, with live music.

Day Four (Boxing Day)

On Boxing Day, Olympia cruises back to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, and there's the chance to enjoy an optional excursion to the exquisite wine-producing town of Cochem, picturesquely set on the bank of the Moselle, the Rhine's pretty, smaller sister. The visit will include a chance for you to taste the lovely wines for which the region is famed, before returning to Olympia for a final evening's relaxation.

Day Five

Bid "auf wiedersehen" to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as you return to the airport for your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Bristol Couple
The food was very disappointing especially the Christmas dinner and breakfast was especially poor. The cruise manager was condescending and not a people's person. If we were to do this trip again we would go up market and use Viking or something similar. Met some lovely people on board but wouldn't use newmarket again to do this trip. I suppose you get what you pay for!!. A lot of elderly people strugged with the stairs. A lift should be installed.

Have sent email to Chris in customer services as feel this holiday was over priced, flights a nightmare, food very poor, we ate out Christmas night as buffet was so bad, and as for a Christmas cruise not a cracker in sight, the rep Peter was a very educated man but thought he had a ship full of children. Overall I would not recommend this trip or New Market holidays as when you call and email, its well we need 28 days to look into the problems then we will get back to you, I know that three other people have been in touch with them and are told the same thing so lets see if they say we are the only ones that have complained. So don't go if you want to enjoy your Christmas. But I have to say the ships staff not the two bar staff but the rest were very nice and helpful and friendly.

Very good on the ship but far too long left to our own devices in Cologne on both the first and the fifth day

Very disappointed with the whole experience. Paid for the best cabin which turned out to be small, hard beds, thin quilt, worn carpet and the bathroom needed upgrading. Was ill on the first morning from some fish that was served up on the first evening on board. Food was poor generally - breakfast in particular was truly awful with an offering of tasteless yoghurt, a strange looking pile of fatty bacon which nobody touched and burned scrambled egg. We were told breakfast was 7 til 9 but then told that if we didn't go into breakfast by 8.45 we couldn't have any. Tour manager, Peter, very curt and patronising at times. Given tables to sit at without any choice. We are a couple and expected to eat at a table for 2. Extortionate price for wifi which we were told was only available in reception which had just 2 chairs and doors opening frequently, both sides to the decks. A couple of people bought that and said the wifi connection was frequently not available. Heating sometimes way too hot in the lounge and then it stopped working. Boxing night we had our coats on in the lounge.

Farnborough Couple
A very relaxing break with good service from all the Crew on board. Transfers from Frankfurt Ok but the Coach Driver left us without any firm idea of where we were to meet him passengers from another part of the Airport. He was totally unaware of the effect the building works at Frankfurt had on the exits to the Coach park. He was the same on the return journey. Cruise Manager was very good although his information regarding what was open etc was incorrect and a couple of phone calls beforehand would have solved these problems. So saying it was a good Xmas Cruise.
