Your Malta Holiday Base: Bugibba

Set on the quieter side of St Paul's Bay, but with easy access to lively and colourful Bugibba, Qawra offers plenty of interest, with sea-front bars and cafes as well as a sandy beach fringing the bay. Stroll along the promenade to Qawra Point, or perhaps enjoy a long lunch in the sunshine.

Malta Holiday Itinerary

Day One: Fly to Malta

Fly to Malta, meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your chosen hotel in the delightful Qawra area of St Paul's Bay.

Day Two: Day at leisure

Spend today relaxing in your hotel or exploring your surroundings at your leisure.

Day Three: Included Valletta guided tour

Join your Tour Manager for an included exploration of Valletta, the island's fascinating capital. After a visit to the Malta Experience, an award-winning audio-visual presentation that places the city and the island in their historical context, you'll see the major sights, including the Auberge de Castille, magnificent former home to the Knights of St John and now the Prime Minister's office, and the Upper Barracca Gardens.

Day Four: Included cruise to Gozo

Today's included excursion will see you board the ferry for a crossing to the quaint port of Mgarr, gateway to Gozo - Malta's smaller, greener sister isle.

Visit Victoria - the island's fortified capital - and the fascinating 'Inland Sea' at Dwerja. We'll also stop at Calypso's Cave overlooking sandy Ramla Bay, and the delightful coastal resort of Xlendi, before returning to Malta past the tiny islet of Comino.

Day Five: Included Maltese culture evening

Spend your day resting and relaxing, and in the evening, join your fellow guests for an evening of traditional Maltese hospitality in the historic town of Mosta. Enjoy a meal of Maltese cuisine served by waiters dressed in authentic period costume, as well as a display of traditional Maltese music and dancing.

Day Six: Included tour of Mdina, Rabat and Mosta

On today's included tour you'll travel inland to Mdina, the ancient, fortified former capital with its spectacular rampart views and its narrow stone-built streets in the beautiful 'silent city'.

The tour also includes the Grotto at Rabat, where Bellini's 'St Paul' depicts the apostle's shipwreck on the island, and the famous domed church at Mosta, which survived a direct hit during the WW2 bombardment of the island.

Day Seven: Included tour of Vittoriosa, Cospicua, Senglea and Marsaxlokk

Our final included excursion explores the area across from Valletta's Grand Harbour, where three medieval 'cities' reflect the island's rich history. See one of the earliest Maltese Crosses in Vittoriosa, one of the Mediterranean's oldest dockyards at Cospicua, and Senglea with its waterside houses and steps down to the sea.

You'll also pay a visit to the colourful fishing village of Marsaxlokk, with its busy market, and Tarxien, where ancient temples contain carved symbols not dissimilar to Celtic engravings.

Day Eight: Fly back to the UK

Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home as your holiday to Malta draws to a close.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 30 minutes.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Departures from Belfast, East Midlands and Newcastle

Customers flying from these airports depart and return one day later that the standard departures. As a result, their excursion programme will begin on Day Two, rather than Day Three, and will end with a day to relax in the resort.

Very well organised
The only fault I can find is that the cooked food on the self service servery at the hotel was sometimes not hot (only luke warm) but that is a common fault with these wherever one goes.

The Guide (Agnes) was excellent and very knowledgable. However, she had to guide a group of 52 people which we felt was too many. There should have been two Guides with 26 each.

Each day was over-filled with not enough free time for us to explore towns and venues on our own.

Too much time being trawled round on a coach and not enough time exploring on our own. Time wasted waiting for people to find our large coach when it was parked up. Noisy hotel full of school children.
