- Disappointed as it was too much of a rushed tour and in hindsight it would be better to do each location individually.
It did not help when reaching Rome airport that both our cases were lost!! My partner's eventually arrived 2 days later at the hotel. Mine unfortunately has been officially declared lost!
Bonus points to tour manager Daniela and staff at hotel Romoli for all their helpful assistance.
Leaving all that aside - Romoli hotel staff exceptional - out of central location and does not have a restaurant but there is a limited menu in the evenings which are tasty dishes. Breakfast is good continental and nice outlook.
Hotel itself is good accommodation with fridge etc well looked after but in a residential area - bit too far from city - local restaurant and nice local bars that do assorted menus (but not normally weekends).
Tours - Vatican definitely would not recommend it as it is too rushed because of lack of control on visitors, which meant 'rushed' or be trampled!! Very good guide but spoilt by lack of Vatican control!
Other tours etc in Rome was good and it really needs a week there to appreciate everything .... i.e. too rushed for 3 days ....
Monte Cassino visit and Pompeii visits en route to Sorrento very good but a long trip....
Hotel Villa Igea - was a different proposition..... Looked good (except maybe a garage in former days with petrol forecourt still in use) ..... reception staff really good and shuttle bus driver. Unfortunately, totally let down by serving waiters and food quality. Rooms and service left a lot to be desired - needed a lot of refurbishment.
Not sure if Newmarket had a limited budget but food and service was atrocious , in fact most of the group ate elsewhere rather than put up with poor quality food (tinned peas, carrots, etc) .... Waiters well... defied description .... not typical happy Italian waiters .... ruined most of the groups holiday ...
Almalfi tours etc and Daniela were really good but after aforementioned, perhaps it was a little too rushed ... and better locations etc by Newmarket would have made it more enjoyable.
Complements to Daniela and Hotel Romoli staff and the coach drivers especially
