Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Italy, meet your Tour Manager and relax on our coach as you transfer to your hotel.

Day Two

Spend an unforgettable day in the fabled Italian capital, joining your tour manager for this morning's classic guided tour, which will take in the city's highlights, then explore at your leisure, enjoying a place once the centre of the Roman universe, the fascination of countless elegant, ancient piazzas and delightful gardens, or sophisticated shopping streets like the Via Condotti, soaking up the atmosphere of the city of la dolce vita.

Day Three

This morning's optional sightseeing tour offers the opportunity to discover and explore the wonders of the Vatican City, where the great dome of the Basilica looks over vast St Peter's Square. Enter the church to view Bernini's baldacchino and Michelangelo's moving pieta, and take in the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo's frescoes and ceiling are amongst the Western world's greatest masterpieces.

Day Four

Bid farewell to your Roman hosts and make the scenic journey through rolling hills to Cassino, WW2 battle site, where the town and the vast Benedictine monastery have been faithfully restored. Continue on to the blue Bay of Naples and Pompeii's world-famous ruins, enjoying a guided tour of the preserved remains of the ancient, once magnificent city, before making the short journey to exquisite Sorrento for a four-night stay.

Day Five

Rest and relax in the hotel and its surroundings, a beautiful corner of the Mediterranean, famously built 'between the sky and the sea', and exuding Southern Italian charm. Explore the two colourful ports and bustling Piazza Tasso, the backdrop for the traditional 'passeggiata' each evening, and wander through colourful, scented parks and gardens, some overlooking the Bay.

Day Six

One of Europe's most scenic coastal roads, the famous Amalfi Drive, forms the backdrop for today's unforgettable included excursion, as you jourmey to beautiful Amalfi and its restored cathedral, and to exquisite Ravello, with its alleys. stairways and roofed passages clinging to the mountainside, and from which vantage points the views are spectacular.

Day Seven

Today's final, optional, excursion is to the magical Isle of Capri, famous hideaway of poets and artists, where highlights will include picturesque village Anacapri on the slopes of Mount Solaro, famous Villa San Michele and Capri Town, with its designer stores. Shop - or window-shop - in the designer stores, perhaps take an optional boat trip to the famous 'Blue Grotto' or enjoy a lunch of caprese salad before returning to the mainland.

Day Eight

Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK, after a wonderful two-centre tour.

Rome and Sorrento Touring Hotels ★★★

You will be staying in two well-located hotels, both of which will be of at least European three-star standard.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time upon arrival is 45 minutes from Rome airport, and three hours and 30 minutes from Naples. On the return the transfer time to Naples is one hour and 15 minutes, and four hours to Rome.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Changes to your hotels

Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in alternative hotels, of a similar standard, nearby. Full details of your hotels will be sent with your Final Travel Documents.

Italian hotel room tax

Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 € and 3 € per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your tour manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.

*Low deposit of £49 per person applies to new bookings made between 21st June and 31st July 2017 (inclusive) only. This offer only applies to selected air-inclusive holidays. This offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.

Plenty to see & do. We were the youngest in the group & felt empathy for those less physically fit & energetic. A warning to the more elderly and less fit on the high temperatures that might be expected, the early starts & the distances to be walked may be appropriate.

Nice people to be on holiday with . Very good guide. Rome hotel not up to standard. Sorrento hotel was good. First day tour was good but rather a lot of walking and St Peters far too crowded with 20000 people allowed to enter each day. I had been in October and reduced numbers made it then a much better experience,

On arrival at Rome airport there was a 2.5 hour wait to enable other flights to get in before the coach would leave. That was a very poor start to the holiday. Hotel 1 was situated in the Rome suburbs - the room was fine. Breakfast was good but the food available in the evening was very poor. Hotel 2 was situated on the outskirts of Sorrento and although there was a courtesy bus at some times of the day it was a very dangerous walk down to the town with no footpath. Our room was in the attic and had a sloping ceiling which necessitated stooping. The staff at both hotels were fine with one exception - the male receptionist at the Rome hotel who maintained a sour, unwelcoming expression for everyone throughout our group's stay. The tours were fine.

Overall holiday was good, but flight times could have been better and the flight to Birmingham would have been better from Naples. Food in hotel in Sorrento left a lot to be desired.
