Festive glory and the Living Crafts for Christmas Fair
Here's your chance to see Blenheim Palace - the magnificent birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and home of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough - in all its Christmas glory. Browse the Living Crafts for Christmas fair at the palace, and enjoy a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon on this great-value break. It's guaranteed to get your Christmas shopping off to a flying start!
Join our coach at your pick-up point this morning, and head to the medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. This picturesque town hosts a weekend craft market, and you'll also find a range of independent retailers and boutique shops.
Visit Shakespeare's Birthplace, where costumed guides will take you back in time to explore his literary life, or discover the quirky designs and installations at Stratford's new Mechanical Art and Design museum. After time to explore, and perhaps enjoy an early dinner in a traditional pub (payable locally), we'll continue to our overnight hotel, arriving by mid evening.
After a buffet breakfast, this morning, we head to Blenheim Palace - one of Britain's finest stately homes. Stroll through the grand rooms - lavishly decorated with wreaths, garlands and giant Christmas trees lit up by 1.5 miles of festive lights - and see the State Dining Table laid for a sumptuous Christmas dinner. Carol singers, organists and brass bands add to the festive atmosphere.
Blenheim Palace's Great Courtyard plays host to the Living Crafts for Christmas fair, voted number one of the 10 best Christmas markets by Country Living magazine in 2016. With over 150 stalls, the fair offers all manner of gifts and tasty delicacies, from stocking-fillers to decorations and trinkets, and traditional British produce.
You may like to round off your day with a wintry stroll through the magnificent grounds to Vanbrugh's much-photographed Grand Bridge, before we begin our journey home in the late afternoon, arriving back in the local area during the late evening.
Please note that Blenheim Palace has a separate "Christmas at Blenheim" event - an after-dark festive trail of lights which runs from 24 November to 1 January - and it is not included in this tour.
