- Excellent holiday - perhaps our only criticism would be that the last day could be a "free day". We had early starts most days and to have the last day to relax and so forth would put a bigger smile on everybody's face!

The perfect southern Italian holiday haven
The elegant resort of Maiori and a fine hotel provide the ingredients for this memorable break in southern Italy. Enjoy a relaxing stay on one of Europe's most beautiful coastlines, close to the famous Amalfi Drive, and discover Italy's stunning landscape and fascinating history on our wonderful range of optional excursions.
Single rooms are available for a supplement
Fly to Italy, meet your tour manager and make the scenic journey to Maiori and your holiday base. Rest and relax at your hotel, where dinner, accompanied by wine or soft drinks, will be served this evening.
Get to know your surroundings and enjoy the hotel's facilities today, or perhaps take the shuttle bus to the beach. Stroll down the main Corso Reghinna with its many shops, and soak up the atmosphere of a town famous as the setting of some of legendary film director Roberto Rossellini's quintessentially Italian films.
Today's optional excursion will take you to the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Climb the road to a height of 1000 metres, from where the views are stunning, and perhaps take a guide (payable locally) and climb the 500 metres or so further to the volcano's rim.
Afterwards, take in the haunting ruins of Roman Pompeii, miraculously 'preserved' by the eruption of the volcano in AD79. Excavations have continued to reveal the city, which had been buried and forgotten until its rediscovery in the 18th Century.
Today's included excursion takes in the world-famous Amalfi Drive, the scenic coastal road that winds its way above the towering cliffs and resorts like Positano that cling to the hillside. You'll also be able to spend time in exquisite Sorrento, taking in the town's colourful port and bustling Piazza Tasso.
Visit the magical Isle of Capri on today's optional excursion as you travel by boat from Amalfi, past tiny Positano. Discover picturesque Anacapri on the slopes of Mount Solare, famous Villa San Michele, and Capri Town. Spend time shopping in the designer stores, and perhaps take an optional boat trip to the famous 'Blue Grotto' or enjoy lunch, before the return sailing.
Spend today at leisure, or perhaps make the short trip into nearby Amalfi, a wonderful port-town where the houses rise up the hillsides and the main square is dominated by the beautiful, lovingly restored facade of the cathedral.
Head south on today's included excursion around the Bay of Salerno to fascinating Paestum, site of some of the finest ancient Greek remains in Italy. Examine the preserved Doric columns and the tomb paintings before continuing to Salerno - a perfect Southern Italian city complete with bustling streets, an imposing cathedral, dozens of trattorie and stunning views over the Amalfi coastline.
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour from Naples or four hours from Rome.
At this hotel, local wine and soft drinks are included with dinner. Complimentary tea or coffee and biscuits are served each afternoon. Guests can also enjoy free use of tennis courts and sunbeds.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
Guests on half-board arrangements will be served a three-course evening meal, and can expect a first course of traditional pasta or soup, a main meat or fish course accompanied by one or two types of vegetable, and a simple dessert of fruit, cake or Italian ice cream. Breakfasts will usually consist of bread rolls, jam, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Menus will vary from hotel to hotel, but choice will be more limited than in a normal restaurant. In some instances, individual guests who have booked with the hotel independently may be offered a different menu from those who are staying at the hotel as part of a package tour.
Since certain attractions visited offer free admission to visitors aged under 18 and over 65, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair or electric scooter, please let us know as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 EURO and 3 EURO per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your tour manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.
An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.
