2-day Coach Holiday
November - December 2014
A stately home in festive splendour
Each Christmas, Chatsworth House sparkles with lights, candles and artfully arranged decorations. With carol singers, brass bands and a seasonal gift sale - and with a visit to Chester also included - this is a pre-Christmas experience you won't want to miss.
What The Price Includes
- Coach travel throughout
- One night's bed and full English breakfast accommodation in a good hotel in the North West area
- Entry to Chatsworth House
- A visit to Chester
- The services of a Newmarket Tour Manager
- Government taxes and service charges
Single rooms are available for a supplement
Leaving the local area this morning we'll head to historic Chester. Arriving in the early afternoon, you'll be able to explore the famous Rows - galleried tiers of shops dating back to medieval times - visit the cathedral and walk the city walls before we continue to our overnight hotel.
Today's highlight is our visit to Chatsworth. Upon arrival you're free to explore the three gift shops, the stableyard stalls selling mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and mince pies, and the 105-acre garden.
At a prearranged time during your visit, you'll also enjoy a pre-booked, self-guided tour of the house, which is transformed at Christmastime. The rooms are beautifully decorated and lit with candles, and the innumerable treasures - from priceless silver to a 'lace' cravat carved from wood - seem to take on an added gleam. Afterwards, we'll begin our journey home, arriving in the local area by mid to late evening.
Changes to the itinerary
In certain circumstances we reserve the right to reverse the itinerary, and visit Chester on Day Two.
Chatsworth conservation schedule
Seven rooms on the ground floor at Chatsworth and six in the North wing are open to the public during the Christmas season. Rooms on the top floor, including the State Rooms, Old Master Drawings Cabinet, Sketch Galleries and Guest Bedrooms, are closed for annual conservation.
Coach seating arrangements
Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach).
Joining your holiday
Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.
Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair or electric scooter, please let us know as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
