The beautiful Bay of Naples
Join us in the celebrated Neapolitan Riviera. Beneath its blue skies you'll find some of the Mediterranean's most enticing holiday havens, and enjoy a week of fascinating sights, stunning scenery and Italian hospitality.
Single rooms are available for a supplement
This holiday is based beside the beautiful Bay of Naples, where exquisite towns and villages cling to the hillsides, overlooking the water in picture-postcard perfection.
Perched upon its cliff-top, Sorrento seems built between the sky and the sea. Its beating heart is the Piazza Tasso. In the evenings its bars and cafes become the perfect base from which to watch the locals enjoying the passeggiata down the stylish Corso Italia and through the maze of alleyways.
Just six miles from Sorrento, Sant'Agata del Due Golfi enjoys stunning views of both the Bay of Naples and the Bay of Salerno. The village, with its small selection of shops, bars and restaurants, is especially popular with those who prefer the cooler evenings to the the bustle of the main resort.
Fly to Italy and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to check-in, unpack, relax and familiarise yourself with your surroundings, before enjoying dinner in the hotel.
Your first full day is free for you to enjoy at leisure, either at the hotel, or perhaps in Sorrento itself, with its maze of shop-filled alleyways, its two tiny ports, even tinier beach and its blue waters dotted with colourful pedalos and sailboats.
Spend another day relaxing or exploring. Those joining our optional excursion will take in two of Italy's most important historic locations - starting with Monte Cassino, the great rebuilt Benedictine Monastery in its fatefully strategic setting. The second, Caserta, rivals Versailles in its stunning Baroque splendour.
With its immense cliffs and dizzy bridges spanning deep gorges, the Amalfi Drive is among the most scenic coastal roads in Europe. Enjoy the unforgettable view above Positano, with its colourful Moorish-style houses, and visit beautiful Amalfi, before moving on to Ravello with its alleys, stairways and roofed passages clinging to the mountainside.
From Sorrento we cross to Capri, the 'Isle of Dreams'. Enjoy spectacular views from Anacapri's Villa San Michele, take a chair-lift ride to the summit of Solare (payable locally) and visit the island's main town to wander the Augustus Gardens or browse the host of exclusive designer stores. An optional boat trip to the famous Blue Grotto will be bookable on the day.
Another day to enjoy the hotel and discover the charms of Sorrento.
Today you'll visit Mount Vesuvius, climbing the road to a height of 1000 metres. Perhaps take a guide (payable locally) and climb a further 500 metres to the volcano's rim.
Afterwards, discover in the haunting ruins of Roman Pompeii, miraculously 'preserved' by the volcano's eruption in AD79. Forgotten for hundreds of years, it was rediscovered in the 18th Century. Excavations have gradually revealed its magnificent villas, temples and frescoed houses.
After a wonderful week, transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour from Naples and four hours from Rome.
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
Guests on half-board arrangements will be served a three-course evening meal, and can expect a first course of traditional pasta or soup, a main meat or fish course accompanied by one or two types of vegetable, and a simple dessert of fruit, cake or Italian ice cream. Breakfasts will usually consist of bread rolls, jam, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Menus will vary from hotel to hotel, but choice will be more limited than in a normal restaurant. In some instances, individual guests who have booked with the hotel independently may be offered a different menu from those who are staying at the hotel as part of a package tour.
Since certain attractions visited offer free admission to visitors aged under 18 and over 65, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair or electric scooter, please let us know as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 EURO and 3 EURO per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your tour manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.
An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.
