Board the overnight flight to Cape Town.
Arrive this morning in vibrant Cape Town. After a brief visit, perhaps riding the rotating cable-cars to the top of majestic Table Mountain, continue to the famous wine-producing town of Stellenbosch, where you can wander the charming, oak-lined avenues and relax on the spacious 'village green'.
Enjoy today's included tour of the Winelands, taking in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek - the culinary capital of the Western Cape - and scenic Paarl. Wine-tasting, a cellar tour, and the opportunity to purchase some excellent wines, will be followed by wine pairing and a buffet dinner back at the hotel.
A thrilling bushveld experience at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, in the heart of the Klein Karoo, awaits you today. After lunch you'll see the wild heart of Africa on an open-top vehicle safari - hopefully spotting elephants, rhino, Cape buffalo, giraffes and hippos. This evening, enjoy dinner at the lodge, before spending the night in your luxury tented accommodation with full facilities.
Marvel at the vast caverns of stalactites and stalagmites at the world-renowned Cango Caves, before stopping at Oudtshoorn - the 'Ostrich Capital of the World' - for lunch at an ostrich farm. Your final destination will be the resort of Knysna - pearl of the Garden Route - set on the bank of a beautiful lagoon.
Today we board the famous Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe train - South Africa's last scheduled steam-hauled goods and passenger service - to George, for the picturesque journey to the sleepy harbour town of Mossel Bay. After lunch, you'll continue to the Gondwana Game Reserve for an open-top game drive and another opportunity for a 'Big Five' viewing.
Today we travel to the Atlantic coast town of Hermanus, a whale-watching mecca from July to November. See the mighty mammals from the shoreline as they venture close to land, or take an optional whale-watch cruise, weather-permitting. From Hermanus we follow the coast route to Cape Town, arriving late this afternoon.
Spend the day exploring Cape Town, or enjoy an optional full-day tour of the Cape Point Peninsula, taking in treacherous Cape Point, the colony of Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Hout Bay Harbour. Return to Cape Town via Chapman's Peak Drive, an exhilarating coastal route - subject to local conditions.
Enjoy your last day in the city, perhaps relaxing on the beautiful Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. A half-day optional cultural tour, co-led by a local resident, offers an incredible insight into life in the townships and the spirit of the South African people. A dinner dance at the hotel provides the evening's entertainment.
Enjoy some more free time in Cape Town, before we transfer to the airport for the return overnight flight to London, with memories of a fantastic holiday.
