Day One

Make your way to Avonmouth for embarkation and this evening's sailing.

Days Two to Four

Three days are spent at sea, getting to know the ship and her many amenities.

Day Five

Some 500 miles off the coast of Africa, Madeira is one of the world's most beautiful islands. This sun-blessed subtropical paradise is home to some of the most vibrant and exotic flora on Earth. Relax in the island capital, Funchal, visit the wonderful Botanical Gardens, and perhaps race downhill from Monte to Livramento in a wickerwork 'toboggan'!

Day Six

Today is spent on the largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife. Discovery will dock in the principal port of Santa Cruz.

Optional excursions will let you discover the land that boasts 'the whole world in one day' - from a swim in warm waters to throwing snowballs on the slopes of Mt Teide, and from the glitz of the capital's shopping malls to stunning gardens, banana plantations and forests of giant pines and eucalyptus trees.

Days Seven and Eight

Two more days are spent at sea.

Day Nine

The volcanic Cape Verde archipelago is fast becoming a popular holiday haven. Today's first island call is in Santa Antao, where Porto Novo boasts colonial mansions, colourful markets and a bustling harbour. Step ashore to explore, or
to take an excursion into the verdant island interior.

Day 10

The pretty town of Mindelo, capital of the island of Sao Vicente, is the second of Discovery's trio of calls in Cape Verde, before she turns and sails for home.

Day 11

Discovery's third Cape Verde call is Santiago. East African influences are seen everywhere in capital city Praia, where 'best buys' include carved coconut shells, pottery, lacework and basketry. If possible, visit Ciudade Vehla (Old Town), the former colonial capital once visited by Captain Cook, Francis Drake and Vasco da Gama.

Days 12 to 13

Two further days are spent at sea, hopefully bathed in glorious sunshine.

Day 14

Enjoy the warmth of Lanzarote, as Discovery passes back through the Canaries, today. If possible, head to 'fire mountain' for the chance - for the brave - to take a camel ride to the edge of a volcano!

Day 15

Another day is spent at sea.

Day 16

Discovery's final call is the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. It was from here, during the Age of Discovery, that the great adventurers set out in search of the New World. A shore excursion will introduce the city, including the timeless and historic Alfama district.

Days 17 and 18

Your final full days are spent at sea, cruising ever-homeward.

Day 19

Discovery arrives back in Bristol, at the end of a wonderful sunshine cruise.

*The exact discount available will vary depending on cruise, cabin and departure date selected. Discounts apply to all cabin categories. Offer ends midnight 30th April 2014.
