Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Edinburgh and transfer to your hotel, stopping en route in the charming highland town of Pitlochry. After check-in, the rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax or explore before dinner at the hotel.

Day Two

This morning we visit ancient Cawdor Castle, immortalised by Shakespeare in 'Macbeth'. In each room you'll find fascinating (and very funny) guide notes, written by the late Sixth Earl of Cawdor. The gardens, with their vast herbaceous borders, are also worth exploring.

We return to the hotel in the late afternoon, stopping en route in Grantown on Spey. Dating back to the 1760s, this traditional Highland town and boasts many historic buildings, fine Georgian and Victorian architecture and an impressive
tree-lined square.

Day Three

Today we take a tour of Royal Deeside. At Balmoral a short presentation sets the scene, and you are then free to explore the gardens and exhibitions. Afterwards, we'll see the famous 'Royal' church at Crathie before moving on to the popular resorts of Braemar and Ballater.

Day Four

Come with us as we visit mysterious Loch Ness. We'll stop in Drumnadrochit, where you can explore the question of Nessie's existence at the Loch Ness 2000 exhibition or take a short cruise to view the Loch's abundant wildlife.

Later we'll continue to the thriving city of Inverness. Shop and explore, or perhaps head to the the excellent, new visitor centre at nearby Culloden, scene of the last major battle fought on mainland Britain (entry payable locally).

Day Five

Transfer back to Edinburgh for your return flight home. Depending on your flight time, there may be time to explore this beautiful city before you head to the airport.
