Your Tour Base: Glengariff, County Cork

You'll be staying in the delightful village of Glengarriff on Cork's Beara Peninsula. A popular stopping-off point for generations of visitors to the region, Glengarriff offers a selection of bars, cafes and gift shops, a Bamboo Park and a nearby Nature Reserve. Garnish Island, a short boat trip across the bay, is also well worth a visit.

Killarney And The Ring Of Kerry Tour Itinerary

Day One: Fly to Ireland

Fly to Cork Airport, meet your Tour Manager and enjoy the scenic transfer west to Glengarriff and your hotel. After checking in, and depending on the time of your flight, you're free to spend the rest of the day exploring the village.

Day Two: A half-day included drive around the Beara Peninsula

This morning you'll discover the wild and remote Beara Peninsula. Tiny islets dot the water, while settlements like the great fishing port of Castletownbere and the views from the road that winds its way west add to the scenic appeal. In the afternoon you can enjoy Glengarriff and its surroundings, perhaps taking a boat across the bay to the elegant gardens of Garnish Island.

Day Three: Included visits to Kinsale and Skibbereen

Today you'll head into the rugged beauty of West Cork, and visit famous Kinsale (the gourmet capital of Ireland) at the mouth of the Bandon River. Explore at your leisure and perhaps stop for a bite to eat at one of the many quayside cafes and bars. You'll also visit historic Skibbereen. The town was one of the areas most affected by the Irish Potato Famine, and its heritage centre features a fascinating exhibition that commemorates the Great Hunger and examines the impact of the desperate period on the local people and events.

Day Four: An included excursion to Killarney National Park in County Kerry

Travel north from Glengarriff into County Kerry, where Killarney National Park's lakeland scenery is overlooked by Ireland's highest mountain range - Macgillycuddy's Reeks. Discover Lakes Leane, Muckross and Upper, explore charming, lively Killarney town - home to St Mary's Cathedral - and visit Muckross House, one of Ireland's finest stately homes. Here a guided tour will reveal the elegant lifestyle of its owners and the busy bustle of the servants' lives 'below stairs'.

Day Five: An included journey to the Ring of Kerry

Our final excursion takes us around the Ring of Kerry, a circular route formed by the sublimely beautiful lakes and mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula that stretches west from the pretty town of Kenmare. Pass through a landscape of forests and rugged peaks, tumbling waterfalls and charming villages, and cross Coomakista Pass to take in the panoramic views of the Kenmare River. Catch sight of Macgillycuddy's Reeks from Molls Gap, and explore places like Waterville and rugged Cahersiveen, before returning to the hotel.

Day Six: Fly back to the UK

Bid farewell to Glengarriff, and board the coach to transfer back to Cork Airport in time to catch your flight home.
