Columbus sails from London Tilbury as you familiarise yourself with your new, floating home, and spend the first of many wonderful evenings in the company of fellow adventurers.
Call in delightful Amsterdam, and explore its canals and waterways, before Columbus sets sail, heading south to warmer waters.
The great seafaring city of Lisbon - hub of the Age of Discovery - is our next port of call. A shore excursion here will introduce the Portuguese capital before Columbus begins her voyage in earnest, heading out into the Atlantic tonight.
Madeira is one of the world's most beautiful islands - a sun-blessed, lush, sub-tropical paradise, home to one of the most vibrant and profound collections of exotic, colourful flora on Earth. The verdant island capital, Funchal, is a relaxing and captivating port of call. Don't miss the exhilaration of a wickerwork 'toboggan' ride from Monte to Livramento!
Experience bustling, colourful, cricket-loving Bridgetown today. This Barbadian getaway is a gateway to some of the Caribbean's most popular resorts.
Tropical rainforests, spectacular mountain scenery, vanilla plantations and the scents of nutmeg, cloves, ginger and cinnamon make the Spice Island of Grenada a very special place. Spend time savouring its wares in the street markets of St Georges, head for hilltop Fort George and don't miss the chance to take a water taxi to Grand Anse beach.
Cartagena is a Spanish colonial treasure on the Colombian coast. Visit Downtown to discover streets and squares lined by brightly coloured buildings and bougainvillea-covered mansions, elegant balconies and magnificent churches.
As Columbus calls at Cristobal on the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal, there's a chance to cross by coach to the Pacific and visit Panama City itself. Alternatively, stay aboard as Columbus heads through the first stretch of the canal into Gatan Lake, a vast, manmade stretch of water that's also among the most important ecological zones in the Americas.
One of your cruise's more unusual highlights is today's passage through the remaining stretch of the historic and astounding Panama Canal, the 82-kilometre 'short cut' between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
After a week of balmy days at sea, the breathtaking islands of French Polynesia are a colourful sight. Taiohae harbour, on tiny Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Isles, is your first chance to absorb the atmosphere of this languid, tropical world.
Tahiti is, perhaps, the most famous South Pacific island. Its capital, Pape'ete, is home to historic Le Marche market, the lush Vaipaha Gardens and a perfect lagoon, and seems to have appeared straight out of a Gauguin painting. Columbus will spend the night here, giving you ample time to enjoy your idyllic surroundings.
Moving westwards into the islands of French Polynesia, today, Columbus cruises to Mo'orea, whose green-clad mountains rise out of the shallow, blue waters of its surrounding lagoon. Step ashore to explore this land of pastel-painted houses and colourful gardens.
Today, legendary Bora Bora, a quintessential island paradise, with mountains, lagoons and sublime beaches, completes Columbus's Polynesian calls.
Columbus crosses the International Date Line on her way to Auckland, the glittering 'City of Sails' on New Zealand's North Island. Step ashore to take in the Auckland Museum's priceless carvings and artefacts, or to enjoy a trip up the 328-metre Sky Tower, the country's tallest structure.
Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most popular destinations. Join a shore excursion to discover bubbling hot-springs, gushing geysers and the traditional Maori culture of the Te Arawa people. Visit the fascinating Agrodome for a display of sheep-shearing skills, see the traditional Maori village of Te Puia and the wondrous Thermal Reserve, with its boiling mud pools and geysers.
After cruising past the hidden coves, glorious white sand beaches and tiny islets of the Bay of Islands, Columbus anchors in blue waters teeming with marine life. Head ashore to explore Paihia's shops and stalls, or to explore New Zealand's beautiful north-east corner.
Vibrant, laid-back Sydney is your final port on this wonderful cruise. Disembark to explore this great city, renowned for its iconic Opera House, Harbour Bridge, famous beaches and stunning Botanic Gardens.
