Day One and Two
Your Tour Manager will meet you at the airport in Christchurch, and a coach will be waiting to carry you to your hotel. You'll have time to rest and relax after your journey, then join a guided tour of the Garden City's cardboard cathedral, restored historic tramway and Re:START shopping complex (built of stacked and recycled shipping containers).
Today we'll head along the coast to Kaikoura. This former crayfishing port is now one of the most popular places on Earth to see sperm whales. Head out in search of the majestic creatures on an included whale-watching cruise.
Leaving Christchurch, we'll cross the Canterbury Plains towards the Southern Alps, past scenic Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki, with its views of towering Mount Cook. Stop at Mount Cook Village, beneath New Zealand's highest peak, before continuing to our next hotel, in Queenstown.
Milford Sound is one of the world's greatest natural fjords. Gaze across the vast silver waters at the immense mountainous skyline - dominated by the perfect slopes of Mitre Peak - and (weather permitting) explore the cliff-side forests and crashing waterfalls on an included cruise.
After your visit you'll also have the option of returning to Queenstown onboard a scenic flight (for an additional fee).
Today you're free to enjoy the delights of Queenstown. This is the adventure capital of the world so there are plenty of adrenalin-fuelled activities for the brave to try - from bungee-jumping to white-water rafting and jet-boating.
Today we'll head through Kawarau Gorge and past beautiful Lake Wanaka as you enjoy the journey north-west towards Central Otago's grasslands. The Haast Pass Highway leads you past the tiny wilderness communities of Haast, before you continue up the coast to the magnificent Franz Josef Glacier.
Spend today surrounded by more astounding scenery. Hike up to the edge of the glacier, or join our flight over the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers on optional excursions
Later, re-board the coach to travel through the rainforests and limestone outcrops to Hokitika.
Hokitika was a key port during New Zealand's Gold Rush and remains a centre of the greenstone industry. After a relaxed morning we'll continue our journey to Nelson, on the island's north coast.
Today's included excursion to Abel Tasman National Park will reveal the spectacular sands of Anchorage Beach and Torrent Bay, and includes lunch and a boat trip to discover some of the more remote parts of the park's lush shoreline, as well as time to explore on foot.
Today you'll cross the rolling countryside to Marlborough Sounds. From here a three-hour ferry crossing will take you over the Cook Strait to New Zealand's capital, Wellington.
After a short guided tour, you'll be free to spend the evening in this welcoming city.
Your exploration of North Island begins with a journey into Tongariro National Park's stark volcanic landscape - Mordor in the 'Lord of the Rings' films and one of the tour's most memorable sights. Continue north to Lake Taupo, then on to the city of Rotorua.
Rotorua draws visitors from across the globe to its hot springs, and a host of different activities will vie for your attention today. Visit the Te Puia Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, see the Agrodome's entertaining insight into New Zealand's sheep-rearing industry, or take a guided tour to discover the silica terraces, mud pools and geysers - including Pohutu (the Big Splash) which can shoot 20 metres into the air.
This evening, enjoy a traditional Maori Cultural Performance of songs, rituals and dances, followed by a Hangi feast cooked in an earth oven.
Today you'll visit the extraordinary caves at Waitomo, an 30-mile network stretching some 30 miles beneath limestone hills. Discover the amazing acoustics of the Cathedral and take a boat journey into the Glow-worm Grotto on a guided tour.
Later we'll head north to Auckland for an overnight stay in the 'City of Sails'.
Explore Auckland on a guided tour, this morning. See Queen Street and cross Auckland Harbour Bridge to enjoy the views of Waitemata Harbour and the city skyline. Other highlights include the 328-metre Sky Tower, New Zealand's tallest structure, and Auckland Museum's priceless Maori artefacts.
This afternoon, we'll head to Paihia, to spend two nights in beautiful surroundings on the edge of the Bay of Islands.
Our final full day in New Zealand takes us north to remote Cape Reinga. The country's northernmost point, where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean and where - according to Maori beliefs - the souls of the dead enter the underworld.
See the endless stretch of 90-Mile Beach, then return to Paihia to enjoy a farewell dinner.
Return to Auckland, to check in for your flight home to the UK via Sydney and Dubai.
Arrive back in the UK.
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 30 minutes.
