Discover Vietnam, a land of sparkling beaches, ethereal limestone islands and historic cities that reverberate with life. Learn about life here, in one of Asia's most vibrant countries, with visits to labyrinthine Hanoi, imperial Hue and exciting Ho Chi Minh City - still known locally as Saigon - and explore the sprawling waterways of the Mekong Delta.
Fly overnight from the UK to Vietnam's capital city, Hanoi.
Arriving in Hanoi, this morning you'll meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel in Hanoi. Begin to understand Vietnam's unique culture and complex past with a walking tour through the city's Old Quarter and on to Hoan Kiem Lake, where you'll find the ornate island-temple Ngoc Son. You'll also visit Bat Trang, an ancient pottery-making village.
Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening.
Join us, today, on a full-day guided tour with visits to revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum, the imposing Imperial Citadel and the beautiful Confucian Temple of Literature. For lunch, enjoy a traditional bowl of Pho - Vietnamese noodle soup, and end your day with an optional trip to the theatre to watch a traditional water puppet show.
Today you'll see one of the natural world's most striking scenes as you board a traditional junk in the Bay of Tonkin to begin a two-day voyage through Halong Bay.
Witness lives lived among floating villages, and discover deserted gold-sand beaches, as your vessel meanders between some of the bay's 1600 limestone islands and islets. Enjoy a delicious lunch and dinner, a cookery demonstration and, weather permitting, try night fishing under the stars.
Rise early for the chance to see the sun rise over the tranquil bay and join an energising tai chi class. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast on board before finishing your time at sea with a visit to a typical fishing village. Later in the day you'll return to Hanoi, and board a short flight south to Hue.
Once the capital of Vietnam, modern Hue is a haven of calm. Discover its pagodas and the tombs of emperors past, and walk through history in the restored Imperial City of the Nyugun Dynasty. Later, take a cruise on the city's Perfume River before joining a guided tour of the Imperial City's palace.
Taking the road south, you'll have the chance to visit the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, travel through magnificent Hai Van Pass and stop in Danang to explore the Cham Museum. Closer to our destination you'll see the geologically improbable Marble Mountains and a number of beautiful coastal lagoons and beaches.
End your incredible day of sights and sounds with a sundowner and a meal in the ancient and peaceful port town of Hoi An.
Today you'll visit Tra Que, a vegetable-growing village, where you'll be able to join the farmers in picking and preparing fresh produce for a delicious lunch. Return to Hoi An after lunch to spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps relaxing on the beach, or wandering the town's shops and stalls.
This morning you'll transfer to Danang Airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. You'll begin your time here with a visit to the Cu Chi tunnel complex, part of an underground labyrinth that was used by the Viet Cong during the country's civil war.
Once settled in HCMC you'll enjoy a guided tour of the city - a fascinating mix of its French colonial past and modern-day style. Highlights include Reunification Hall and the Xa Loi Pagoda. Time permitting, you'll have chance to visit the War Remnants Museum, formerly known as the Exhibition House for Crimes of War and Aggression.
Today you'll travel into the iconic landscape of the Mekong Delta, crossing futuristic Rach Mieu Bridge to visit the delta town of Ben Tre. Take a boat trip along the Delta's bustling waterways to visit local craft shops and an island fruit farm before returning to the city via a fascinating bonsai garden.
Bid farewell to Saigon and transfer to the beach resort of Mui Ne. The area boasts a near-perfect climate, stunning red and white sand dunes and warm waters. Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the facilities of your four-star beachfront hotel - the Blue Ocean Resort.
Rest and relax in the resort, and enjoy its many facilities - including a spa and swimming pool - or choose to venture out onto the area's striking inland sand dunes.
Today you'll return to HCMC Airport by coach, and board your overnight flight back to the UK.
Arrive back in the UK at the end of a wonderful Vietnamese adventure.
