Combine a stay on the shores of Lake Bled with two nights in the heart of the Veneto. Discover the unspoilt Slovenian countryside, cross into Austria and visit charming Klagenfurt and lovely Lake Worthersee, and immerse yourself in the mystery and history of Venice.
Fly to Venice or Ljubljana, and board our coach for the transfer to Lake Bled and your first hotel. Check in then relax, or perhaps take a walk beside the lake, until dinner is served.
Set on the shores of Lake Bled amid the forested foothills of the Julian Alps, the pretty resort of Bled offers visitors a host of shops, restaurants and shore-side bars. Join our friendly Tour Manager for a tour to get to know the town and the lake, then spend the rest of the day relaxing and exploring. Take a pletnjja (gondola) out into the lake and to climb the broad staircase from the waters edge to the pilgrimage church of the Assumption of Mary on Bled Island.
Join today's optional excursion and visit Ljubljana - the laid-back Slovenian capital. Here, elegant bridges span the Ljubljanica river as it flows through the Baroque and Gothic old town, the focal point of which is St Nicholas Cathedral. Climb the 150 steps of Ljubljana Castle's observation tower for spectacular views across the city to the Julian Alps.
Cross the border into Austria, today as we explore Carinthia. Spend the time discovering the courtyards and cafes of Klagenfurt, strolling beside the clear waters of Lake Worthersee, and wandering the quiet streets of the regional capital, Villach.
Spend your final day beside Lake Bled relaxing. Climb the slopes to Bled Castle, catch the local bus to nearby Lake Bohinj, ride the cable car to the summit of Mount Triglav 5000 feet above, or simply unwind.
Leaving Lake Bled behind, we'll wind our way past the vast forested slopes of Triglav National Park to the world alpine skiing centre (and sleepy summer resort) of Kranjska Gora, before crossing into Italy.
We'll arrive in Mirano in the late afternoon, leaving you free to relax until dinner this evening.
Discover Venice and its mysterious labyrinth of alleys and waterways on our final included tour. See spectacular St Mark's Square and Cathedral, the Doge's Palace, Rialto Bridge, Palace of Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs on a walking tour, then explore under your own steam.
Say goodbye to Venice as we transfer you to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 45 minutes from Ljubliana and three hours from Venice. The transfer back to the airport at the end of your holiday is approximately 30 minutes.
Hotel transfer times
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
Combining hotel transfers
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.
Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in alternative hotels, of a similar standard, nearby. Full details of your hotels will be sent with your Final Travel Documents.
Changes to your hotels
Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 € and 3 € per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your tour manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.
Italian hotel room tax
Guests on half-board arrangements will be served a three-course evening meal, and can expect a first course of traditional pasta or soup, a main meat or fish course accompanied by one or two types of vegetable, and a simple dessert of fruit, cake or Italian ice cream. Breakfasts will usually consist of bread rolls, jam, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Menus will vary from hotel to hotel, but choice will be more limited than in a normal restaurant. In some instances, individual guests who have booked with the hotel independently may be offered a different menu from those who are staying at the hotel as part of a package tour.
Meals in Italy
Since some attractions visited offer free admission to visitors at certain times of year, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.
An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
