Itinerary

Day One

This morning you'll fly to Edinburgh, where our Tour Manager will be waiting to meet you. We'll head into the city and, after a short introductory coach tour, you'll have some free time to explore and enjoy lunch before returning the coach to head to our hotel.

After check-in you'll have the afternoon free. Relax in the hotel or take a stroll around Drymen's lovely village square or onto one of the well-marked routes Including the West Highland Way) which surround the village.

Day Two

Today we'll head into the Trossachs, a beautiful and history-steeped area of mountains, lochs, rivers and woods. We'll follow Loch Lomond's western shore north to Luss. Relax over a cup of tea here, or stroll past the lovely cottages and village church to the Loch's "bonnie banks".

We'll also stop in Killin for a view across the rocky cascades of Dochart Falls and in Callander, on the eastern edge of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and once famous across the UK as the location used as Tannochbrae in the 1960s' BBC series 'Dr. Finlay's Casebook'.

Day Three

Stirling has had one of the most turbulent histories in all Scotland - Stirling Castle alone was besieged at least 16 times, William Wallace fought a battle on Stirling Bridge in 1297 and Bannockburn is less than three miles to the south. See the lovingly restored Royal Lodgings, James IV's Great Hall and take in the views from atop the battlements on a visit to the castle (entry payable locally), and wander the cobbled streets of Stirling Old Town before we return to the hotel.

This afternoon you'll be free to relax or join us for an optional cruise on Loch Katrine on board the SS Sir Walter Scott - which has steamed these waters since 1900 and is now the last screw steamer in regular service in Scotland.

Day Four

Our final day's touring takes us first to the ferry port at Wemyss Bay where we'll board the ferry for the 35-minute crossing to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Our destination here will be Mount Stuart House. The first Scottish home to be built with electric lighting, central heating, a telephone and a lift - and quite possibly the first house in the world to have a heated indoor swimming pool - Mount Stuart shot to fame in April 2016 when a new copy of Shakespeare's First Folio was found tucked away in the house's library.

In the afternoon we'll return to the hotel, following the scenic route of Argyll's Secret Coast along the Kyles of Bute and the shores of Loch Fyne, and past the rocky slopes of the Arrochar Alps.

Day Five

After leisurely start we'll return to Edinburgh, where you may have time for a little more shopping and sightseeing (depending on your flight time), before we head back to the airport to catch the flight home.
