Day One

Board the coach at your pick-up point, and travel to Cologne today. Board Sound of Music and settle in to your cabin. Enjoy your first dinner on board, and perhaps step ashore to stroll around the Rhineland capital.

Day Two

Olympia continues downriver, passing the delightful town of Konigswinter and former German capital, Bonn, to arrive back in Cologne by early afternoon. Explore the great Rhineland capital, or join our coach excursion into the breathtaking Ahr Valley, before returning to Cologne to explore its vast cathedral and the surrounding Altstadt with a local guide.

Day Three

By morning Sound of Music will be sailing along the River Moselle, through hillsides overflowing with vines and topped by historic castles. Shortly after lunch, we'll arrive in Traben-Trarbach, a twin town linked by a long bridge across the river and celebrated for its wines. Why not visit a local wine cellar for a tasting before Sound of Music continues upriver this evening?

Day Four

Boasting some of the finest Roman remains north of the Alps - including a monumental city gate and a 20,000-seat amphitheatre - Trier is Germany's oldest settlement. Join us for an optional walking tour walking tour, and don't miss the birthplace of Karl Marx and the imposing Dom cathedral.

This afternoon, Sound of Music turns to head back downriver to her evening destination - Bernkastel-Kues, another of the river's famous twin-towns.

Day Five

Step ashore after breakfast to see Bernkastel's medieval town square and half-timbered houses on a short optional walking tour before Sound of Music glides back into the river on her way to Cochem.

We'll arrive in Cochem this evening, and you'll have another chance to enjoy a winetasting at a riverside weingut (winery).

Day Six

This morning you'll have the chance to explore the Reichsburg Castle and take in the views across the river on an optional excursion before Sound of Music leaves Cochem behind and heads to Koblenz, where the Moselle and Rhine meet.
