Itinerary

Day One

This morning we'll journey by coach from your pick-up point to Salisbury. As well as it's famous and historic cathedral you'll find a wonderful Christmas market offering handmade crafts and gifts from around the UK, into Europe and beyond. Soak up the atmosphere by the bandstand enjoying a glass of mulled wine or a bratwurst, as school children sing classic carols and local musicians and performers entertain you.

After a few hours to explore, we'll continue to our overnight hotel.

Day Two

Longleat House, set within 900-acres of 'Capability Brown' landscaped gardens and one of the country's finest examples of Elizabethan architecture, is transformed every Christmas. See some of your favourite festive characters - from Cinderella to Scrooge - explore and perhaps add your special Christmas wishes to the magical Wishing Tree.

From the comfort of your coach you'll enjoy animal encounters on a winter safari, and then join the crowds for Longleat's festive Festival of Light to see over 30 acres of illuminations arranged in a spectacular display that includes giant Chinese lanterns, hand-crafted dragons and larger-than-life recreations of some of the Safari Park's famous animals!

We'll begin our journey home in the early evening, arriving back at your pick-up point later that night.

The Sunday afternoon in Salisbury was ill thoght out. As there was no opportunity to get an evening meal at the hotel we had to get this in Sailisbury. As we didn.t arrive there until nearly 2.30, we should have been told the Xmas market closed promptly at 4.00 and to go there first. instead we had our meal as we were really hungry and then found the market ,which was poor, had only 20 mins to run until closing by which time it was raining. Also we weren't told the the cathedral was closed for a service. This could have been found out in advance by your company. we were all left with nearly 2 hours to kill in the dark and rain and the coach wasn't open. Longeat was great on Sunday but no thanks to the tour manager who was quite frankly a waste of space on the whole trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas market on day 1 and a chance to buy some last minute Christmas gifts. We like the free time and finding a pub and then a restaurant to our choice.Longleat was amazing with the festival of light being the best I have seen. The safari was very entertaining with the monkeys being up to their usual tricks and all the animals very visible. This is the best christmas market we have been to in this country and we will find it hard to better it next year.

It was a disappointing holiday as we arrived in Salisbury just before 2pm and as it was a Sunday, which meant early closing. We had to find lunch and our evening meal before we went back on the coach for 6.30pm. We arrived at the hotel at 7.15pm, and had the rest of the evening to either stay in our room or sit in the bar area. We have been on tours and trips in the past and the tour manager has found us somewhere to eat in the evening. However, this tour manager did not go above and beyond and just simply did the basics e.g counting us on and off the coach. We left the hotel at 8.45am on the Monday after a VERY basic breakfast to arrive in Longleat at 10.30. After the Safari trip was finished, we had about 5 hours to spend walking around in the rain, or sitting in various eateries waiting for it to be dark enough to see the lights. We left at 5.30, luckily enough we were the first drop off which was at 9pm and in that time we had only one twenty minute stop. We were told this was going to be the one and only stop for the entire coach journey all the way back to Norfolk. There was a toilet on the coach, which was fine but you do need a break from the boredom of the journey.

Thank you for your review, we are very sorry that some aspects of your trip did not meet with your full approval. This tour ran as advertised and the times spent at each attraction usually work well. All of our holidays adhere to EU regulations regarding driving hours and these ensure that regular comfort stops are made. However there's always a fine balance between getting everyone home as quickly as possible and offering breaks and we apologise if you feel that your driver and Tour Manager got it wrong on this occasion.

Pros: Grainne, the tour guide, was exceptionally efficient, on the ball, likeable and kept us informed throughout. She regularly asked the passengers if they were warm or cold, if they had any questions etc. She even told us the time it would rain so that we could plan our movements. Peter was an excellent driver, offering a hand and a smile as we got on and off the coach.
Cons: No toilet on the coach. We were not informed the upstairs of Longleat House would be closed off and the staff gave us all different reasons for it.
