Day One

Fly to Naples, meet your tour manager and transfer, around the Bay, to your hotel. The Hotel Ascot is set in the heart of this famously colourful resort town, and you'll have time to relax before your first dinner in the hotel this evening.

Day Two

Join your Tour Manager for a guided walking tour of Sorrento, today. At this time of year the town is decked out in festive finery. The shops and stores of the cobbled Corso Italia bustle with life, each vying to display the most extravagant seasonal decorations, and a giant Christmas tree rises in the centre of the central square, the Piazza Tasso.

Customers travelling on 23rd December will join today's walking tour after arriving at the hotel.

Day Three (Christmas Eve)

Today's highlight is an included trip around the Bay to Naples, past the towering cone of Mount Vesuvius. Don't miss this chance to wander down Via San Gregorio Armeno, where the Neapolitan tradition of crib-making (presepe) is carried out in hundreds of shops and stalls, and displayed to amazed visitors, each year.

Day Four (Christmas Day)

After a relaxed breakfast, take a scenic Christmas Day excursion along the world-famous Amalfi Drive, before returning to Sorrento to enjoy a special Christmas Night of dinner and dancing in the hotel.

Day Five (Boxing Day)

Make the most of your last full day on the Neapolitan Riviera by joining our optional half-day excursion to Pompeii. Discover the tales and treasures of these awe-inspiring Roman ruins, which lay preserved and forgotten beneath the ash for centuries following the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79.

Day Six

Return to the airport, today, and board your flight home at the end of a wonderful festive stay.

Further Information

23rd December arrivals

Please note that the itinerary given is for arrivals on 22nd December. Arrivals on 23rd December will join the itinerary on Day Two, which will include the walking tour, and will have final day in the resort at the end of their holiday.

Meals in Italy

Guests on half-board arrangements will be served a three-course evening meal, and can expect a first course of traditional pasta or soup, a main meat or fish course accompanied by one or two types of vegetable, and a simple dessert of fruit, cake or Italian ice cream. Breakfasts will usually consist of bread rolls, jam, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Menus will vary from hotel to hotel, but choice will be more limited than in a normal restaurant. In some instances, individual guests who have booked with the hotel independently may be offered a different menu from those who are staying at the hotel as part of a package tour.

Entrance fees

Since some attractions visited offer free admission to visitors at certain times of year, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Italian hotel room tax

Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 EURO and 3 EURO per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your tour manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

The holiday was very enjoyable if hectic. This was because there was a lot to pull in a very short time. The weather helped , but it was a shook to land back in rainy Luton.

Good location, amazing views topped with good weather. The hotel was in a great position in Sorrento, however the hotel wasn't very good, it was very basic, with small bedrooms, and while it was clean and the staff were friendly, I wouldn't say it was a 4 star hotel. The food was very poor quality and apart from the first night and Christmas night, we ate out at our own additional expense - the advantage to this was that we enjoyed some very good Italian food. There weren't enough waiting or bar staff for the amount of guests in the hotel. There wasn't a table for us in the dining room on our first evening, so we had to wait while one was laid for us - so not a great start to our holiday. Our tour manager, Guilana, was very informative at all the right times, a good assert to Newmarket Holidays.

Tour manager (Juiliana) was excellent.
Hotel was adequate but had no provisons for persons in a wheelchair ie. no walk in shower and no handrails in bedroom/bathroom.
Hotel food was poor, below what should reasonably be expected. Service was very slow.
The walking tour of Naples was poor. We did a lot of walking but were shown very little.
Tour along Amalfi Coast on Christmas Day was very good.
Coach drivers all very helpful in loading/unloading my wife's wheelchair.

Nice location - shame about the hotel, especially its rather poor food, and in particular the very disappointing Christmas dinner.

One piece of advice for both future travellers, and for Newmarket's planning, would be to exclude the trip to Naples (especially on Christmas Eve) - it is an unmitigated dump. Instead include a trip to Herculaneum.

Croydon Couple
Very good Christmas in Sorrento! Nice hotel (a bit dated). Food quite good. Included visits (Naples + Amalfi drive) and optional excursion (to Pompeii) were good, but the number of people in our "party" - about 40 or 50 - made it slow progress most of the time, particularly in Naples and Pompeii. A split party with two guides would have made things better. Still, overall a good Christmas break and good value!

An excellent experience for the first time abroad at Christmas. The resort and the hotel location were perfect but the whole experience was held together by Guilliana the ever present tour manager. She is an asset Newmarket travel could ill afford to loose. She was always smiling, caring and and acted upon anybodies complaints immediately.

Really enjoyed the trip. Hotel food improved over the days. Christmas day excellent.
Naples guided tour more of a route march stopping 3 or 4 times at squares for short explanations. Naples is a daunting place if you have not been there before and was very crowded as it was Christmas. At the final stopping place (for 2 hours) there are, to our knowledge, at least 3 interesting historical churches/museums a short distance away. They were not mentioned by either guides and might have made the visit more interesting for some. This is not at complaint. You ask for any improvements. Tips system need proper organisation. Heard what to do from other guests rather than the guide. Guide asked for comments before the end of the trip when people were still disappointed by the food. It reflected badly on the hotel. The hotel staff were excellent.
