Resort Information

During your stay, you'll have plenty of time to explore Menton, a place that enjoys mild weather and boasts a delightful 'vielle ville', or old town, plus a famous Casino.

Day One

Fly south to the warmth of the Mediterranean. Transfer to timelessly elegant Menton, one of the most unspoiled of all the Riviera resorts, beautifully set on the Baie du Soleil.

Day Two

Spend your first full day relaxing in Menton, either at your hotel or while you explore the town itself.

Day Three (Christmas Eve)

Join an included excursion and get to know sparkling Cannes, with its world-famous seafront promenade La Croisette, and the ultra-exclusive yachting enclave of Antibes. Both radiate all the elegance and charm of the Cote d'Azur. You'll return to spend the evening in Menton, beginning your celebrations at the hotel.

Day Four (Christmas Day)

Enjoy a visit to famous Nice, the epitome of Riviera-chic, its Promenade des Anglais sweeping round the curve of the Bay of Angels.

During your journey, which will take in the stunning views from the Corniche roads above the coast, you'll discover the breathtaking, hilltop village of Eze, jet-set watering hole St Jean Cap Ferrat, and quaint Villefranche, still a working fishing port and a favourite spot for pleasure-seekers.

You'll return to enjoy a special Christmas Day meal and entertainment at the hotel.

Day Five

Rest and relax in the hotel and its surroundings, or join today's optional excursion to the tiny principality of Monaco, with its Royal Palace, the Palais Princier - home to the royal Grimaldi family - its famous Casino and its harbour full of improbably luxurious yachts.

Day Six

After a wonderful break, transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 45 minutes.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Please note that some meals will be buffet-style.

European closing times

Shops in Europe will generally close from early afternoon on Christmas Eve until 27th December. Included tours and excursions have been chosen for their scenic or historic value.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

As above it was good in parts, the flights and transfers were great on time and early on our return. The hotel was as expected for a three star but the rooms were on the small size and although there was a roof terrace it was not some where I felt I could relax in the day but made for a good evening area. Food again was three star but value for money and you had a choice. The Christmas day lunch and buffet dinner was very good. Staff made me feel vey welcome and could not do enough for you.The tour manager was very knowledgeable but unless you asked questions he did not impart his knowledge. His communications skills were not that good. I was not sure why we were going to some of the places as they were closed. I would have preferred a longer stay at Cannes and I felt more information on what to see be explained rather than telling what was available when we were back on the coach. The trip to Monaco was great and because the flight time was in the evening the following day, it the gave me the opportunity to go back and see Monty Carlo as the time again was restricted especially if someone has a prosthetic leg. Felt the free day could have been at Nice as you were only allocated 2 hours on Christmas day so did not bother going.

Poor choice of hotel in Menton and below average food standards apart from Christmas Day lunch which in fact was excellent.

Poor tour guide and trips were poor value. In fact my daughter and I were left behind at the hotel on Christmas morning as the tour guide made a mistake on his client numbers for the trip to Nice.

Overall exceedingly disappointing holiday.

Menton is an excellent town to be based in. Tour Manager could have been a little more informative re arrangements when first arriving at hotel- ie rooms likely not to be ready!! And a welcome drink (coffee) would have been nice especially for those whose rooms weren't ready (rather than welcome alcoholic drink in the evening!) !! Also he could have been more informative on details of what could be done on excursions particularly Monaco where it wasn't made clear that we could have travelled up to the Palace AFTER first visiting harbour, town and Xmas Market! A short introductory guided walk around main destinations of Monaco/Cannes/Nice would have been helpful and/or small map of town so we would know where we were going!

Dining arrangements in hotel were cramped and not comfortable.

Really enjoyed it. We found staff at Newmarket Travel and in the hotel excellent. Very helpful. Our only complaint would be standard of food which was only fair. Rest of holiday good.

We were very disappointed in the hotel especially as it was a Christmas break.
The restaurant was far to small and food was very poor.
The lounge was situated on 7 th floor and drinks had to be sent up from 1st.
The included trips were very good but the optional extra was ?35 to travel 5 miles and be dumped to find our own way around. We thought at least the tour manager was going to give us a guided tour as the trip was vastly overpriced.
The tour manager was totally inadequate. We were not given any contact number for emergencies,he was last off bus on our arrival giving no guidance whatsoever as to where we went or what we did. When asked if could point any places of interest in Menton his reply was to turn left or right when leaving hotel the choice was ours. We felt he was totally useless and appeared to be on holiday himself.
Thankfully the resort was excellent and the weather good and we are quite happy to entertain ourselves

This was my 2nd Christmas in Menton but this time on arriving in Menton I was not met, greeted and transferred- after waiting nearly 1 hr I got a taxi and 120 euros later I arrived at hotel having got a receipt from taxi driver. All credit to Mick, tour manager he immediately gave a refund, never got to bottom of why Newmarket driver who had 5 names on his list drove off with only 4 people. Makes me apprehensive about a future booking - but I got over it and had a very good Christmas

An enjoyable Christmas break. Weather warm & sunny mostly. Menton is a nice resort. Trip to Monaco particularly enjoyable. Other trips OK.
