Day One

Travelling by comfortable coach, you'll leave the local area today to make your way to the Channel port, and continue to your overnight hotel.

Day Two

Today you'll stop en route in Strasbourg, where the city's festive market is held in the shadow of the magnificent cathedral, which overlooks the ancient Petite France quarter of canals, covered bridges, cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings.

You'll then cross the Rhine and head into the scenic countryside of the Schwarzwald. When you arrive at your hotel, you'll be welcomed with a complimentary drink.

Day Three (Christmas Eve)

Enjoy a visit to picture-postcard Colmar in the Alsace region. Explore the Christmas market and other gems, such as the Pfister House with its wooden gallery and octagonal turret, and the high, half-timbered houses in the Tanner District. During late afternoon we return to our hotel to continue our Christmas celebrations.

Day Four (Christmas Day)

Celebrate Christmas Day with a scenic drive through idyllic Black Forest countryside to the famous spa-town of Triberg, famous for its wood-carving and its cuckoo-clocks. Afterwards, you'll return to your hotel to enjoy Christmas lunch and a special five-course dinner.

Day Five

Enjoy a restful Boxing Day at your hotel. Alternatively, join our optional excursion and see pretty Lake Titisee before we continue to a local bakery to learn how a true Black Forest cake is made, and visit a Schnapps distillery.

We'll also stop at Freiburg. See its historic squares, great sandstone cathedral, delightful old town and babbling Bachle - tiny rivulets that run alongside cobbled streets - before we return to our hotel for dinner.

Day Six

Today we'll begin our journey home, travelling north to a comfortable overnight hotel.

Day Seven

Continue your homeward journey, across the Channel and into the UK.

Further Information

European Christmas closing times

Shops in Europe will generally close from early afternoon on Christmas Eve until 27th December. Included tours and excursions have been chosen for their scenic or historic value.

Coach seating arrangements

Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Your journey

Depending on your departure point, you may leave your pick-up point very early in the morning and return very late at the end of the holiday, in order to meet your scheduled Channel crossing. There will also be a stop to transfer you from a feeder coach to your main coach, on both the outward and return journeys.

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Very enjoyable, exceptional Tour Manager Joseph as he was so well informed about the places visited. All accommodation excellent but main courses disappointing - meat served with an unimaginative tasteless pasta accompaniment only. Good Xmas lunch but then evening well overcooked goose hacked into thick pieces, what a waste. It was obvious they need kitchen staff that know how to present a meal !

Where do I Start, the coach driver was ignorant never spoke to anyone except to say he didnt want to be there. After our first overnight stay we were told it was only a three hour drive to Strasbourg and we would set off at 09:30, the driver didnt arrive till 10:00 to start loading the coach !!We then arrived at Strasbourg at around 14:15 and then spent over an hour driving around looking for somewhere to park !! Consequently to get our time in we were given till 18:00 to wander around, bearing in mind it got dark at 16:30 and almost everything was closing up. This meant we arrived at our Hotel late.
The optional excursion was a joke when we arrived at our destination it was completely closed there was nowhere open not even cafes, fortunately the Tour Manager had got off the coach so we were able to ask her to take us somwhere else to find a place to eat, she didnt have the Drivers Phone Number??? so set off on foot, the driver finally turned up and was told to go and get the coach. We then took off hoping to find somewhere to eat, the first place we were all taken to was crowded and only did mainly coffee and cakes so off we went again the Tour Manager did find a Reastaurant whichmanaged to serve us all. When finished our meal we went back to the Hotel. I'm sure you will aggree not exactly what you would expect for a "Paid Excursion". There were some other niggles but too many to list. If I had not been a customer of Newmarket Holidays before and experienced some great Xmas Holidays I would have been astounded and vowed never to use you again, as most of the first timers voiced. We did however explain to some people that this was very very unusual and not an experience to judge you on. Having voted for you though as the best escorted holiday company i am a little disappointed, but it wont stop me booking with you again.

Hotel was excellent. Optional excursion was a waste of money, rep did not show us anything, very uninformative. Only interested in her Tablet. Coach driver surly and not familiar with the route.
