Famous Riva, at Lake Garda's northern tip, has a busy historic centre surrounded by elegant, pastel-painted buildings. A good selection of cafes, gelaterie, bars, restaurants and shops make it one of the lake's most popular spots. Based in a comfortable hotel, you'll enjoy half-board accommodation, including a turkey lunch and a five-course dinner on Christmas Day, following a morning visit from Santa with a small gift for everyone.
Today you'll travel to your Channel crossing and continue into France, making an overnight stop in the Strasbourg/Colmar area.
Continue on your journey through Switzerland and into Italy, arriving at beautiful Lake Garda and your hotel.
Day Three (Christmas Eve)
Today is Christmas Eve, and on our half-day optional excursion we explore "fair Verona", the historic backdrop for the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet, and home to an annual opera season held in its Roman amphitheatre. Explore, then perhaps head into a cafe on Piazza Bra to watch the world go by.
Day Four (Christmas Day)
Today you'll get to know this beautiful part of Italy on our guided lake tour and boat trip, accompanied by your Tour Manager, who will bring to life not only the lake's various resorts but also Italian Christmas customs and traditions.
There will be a light turkey lunch at your hotel, and then in the evening, take a seat for a celebration dinner. It's a perfect way to spend a special day.
Take an unmissable optional excursion to Venice - one of the world's most beautiful cities, and perhaps even more so in winter. Discover its mysterious labyrinth of alleys and waterways, spectacular St Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge, and the mystique of the Palace of Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs.
Board the coach to begin your return journey through beautiful scenery.
We retrace our steps to cross the Channel and head home, after a wonderful Christmas break.
Meet at port option
To give you greater flexibility and allow you to travel on the date that suits you best, you may like to meet the coach at Folkestone Services (called Stop 24) on the M20, which is just a five-minute drive from the Channel Tunnel and a 15-minute drive from Dover. If you wish to do this, please select the county 'Kent' and the pick-up point 'Stop 24 Folkestone Services Saltwood' when booking. You will be notified of the exact pick-up location in your Final Travel Details, which you will receive approximately 7-10 days prior to departure. Further information and car parking charges can be found at www.stop24.co.uk
European Christmas Closing Times
Shops in Europe will generally be closed from early afternoon on Christmas Eve until 27th December.
Coach seating arrangements
Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)
Depending on your departure point, you may leave your pick-up point very early in the morning and return very late at the end of the holiday, in order to meet your scheduled Channel crossing. There will also be a stop to transfer you from a feeder coach to your main coach, on both the outward and return journeys.
Joining your holiday
Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.
Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Your Channel crossings will either be by ferry or Eurotunnel and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
Since some attractions visited offer free admission to visitors at certain times of year, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.
Italian hotel room tax
Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 EURO and 3 EURO per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your Tour Manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.
*Low deposit of £25 per person applies to new bookings made between 7th and 28th February 2017 (inclusive) only. This offer only applies to selected coach-inclusive holidays. This offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.
