Resort Information

Santa Susanna lies in the heart of a picturesque coastline of rocky coves, quaint fishing villages, golden beaches and attractive resorts. It is especially beautiful in the winter time, when the summer crowds have long gone.

Day One

Travelling by comfortable coach, you'll leave the local area today to make your way to your Channel crossing. You'll continue through France, where you'll break your journey with an overnight stay.

Day Two

Today you'll arrive in Santa Susanna, at the modern Caprici Verd hotel. Enjoy a drink to welcome you, then spend the rest of the day exploring the town or enjoying the hotel's leisure facilities.

Day Three (Christmas Eve)

Barcelona is one of Europe's 'must-see' cities. Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter, renowned pedestrian street La Rambla, and 1992 Olympic Games sites are amongst its highlights. Hunt for last-minute gifts in a famous shopping Mecca and learn the story of some truly bizarre Catalan Christmas traditions on a guided tour.

In the evening, enjoy a special Christmas Eve meal at your hotel.

Day Four (Christmas Day)

Celebrate Christmas morning with a tour of the beautiful 'wild coast', discovering quaint fishing towns and dramatic coastline. Continue a magical Christmas Day with a four-course Christmas Day lunch accompanied by wine and music.

Day Five

An optional excursion today brings the chance to visit the fabled monastery at Montserrat. A centuries-old place of pilgrimage, the mountainside monastery is accessible only by winding road or cable-car, and the views from its lofty perch are outstanding.

Day Six

Bid Santa Susanna farewell and board the coach to begin your homeward journey. You spend the night in a comfortable hotel in France.

Day Seven

Today you'll continue your journey, returning across the Channel and into the UK.

Further Information

European Christmas Closing Times

Shops in Europe will generally be closed from early afternoon on Christmas Eve until 27th December.

Coach seating arrangements

Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Your journey

Depending on your departure point, you may leave your pick-up point very early in the morning and return very late at the end of the holiday, in order to meet your scheduled Channel crossing. There will also be a stop to transfer you from a feeder coach to your main coach, on both the outward and return journeys.

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Ferry/Eurotunnel crossings

Your Channel crossings will either be by ferry or Eurotunnel and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.

Wellington, Somerset Family
The break itself was lovely. The coach drivers (Reg and Darren) were very cheerful and helpful. Unlike our Tour Manager Roy, who wasn't at all cheerful and gave us very little information. The information he did give out was often incorrect. We were lucky at the hotel that the Newmarket air Tour Manager was on hand and she was very helpful. The hotel was clean and functional. The staff very friendly and helpful. The food, was often cold and the service for Christmas lunch was not that well organised. The entertainment was of a very high quality. No kettles in the room though. The organised trips were good although the trip on Christmas morning was not as stated in the brochure. Overall a good value for money break. Not sure why we had a pick ups in Ilminster, as no one got on there and the usual pick-up in Taunton would have been more efficient for all concerned.

Norwich Couple
Badly organised, nearly 24 hours on coach on day one therefore had to eat at a really dreadful motorway stop. Novotel in Orleans was worst hotel I have ever stayed in: on return journey we had same room and it had not been looked at since we had left, bed unmade, towels on floor in shower, no fresh teas and coffees....just awful. The meal on return journey which we had booked with courier was inedible, the fruit bowl at breakfast (and in fruit salad) was mouldy - apples, pears grapes, oranges, think they had sat there since we left the previous week. Staff rude and unhelpful. Hotel in Spain, arrived again late at 10pm. Hotel needed some tlc. Staff ok, food ok if Spanish but their attempt at an English Xmas lunch was appalling...the vegetarian on our table had nothing to eat as each time she asked she was told it was on its way, but she had no starter no middle no main and no pud. Actually she didn't miss much. There were no tea making facilities, which would have been ok if we were able to purchase at the bar - with queues 5 deep at times (eg when coaches returned from a trip) and 2 staff serving cold drinks teas and snacks this was impossible. Had we been warned we would have taken a travel kettle. Managers could have stepped in to help but they sat at front desk doing nothing. Our courier was knowledgable and quite sweet, but she was pushed around by the others. Thank goodness we didn't have the awful Eddie who accompanied us to "The Hub" .....sexist, school boy humour that was totally misplaced. The coaches - we were told to take an overnight bag but there was insufficient room above to take these which meant being squashed up with our bags in a very cramped seat for nearly 24 hours. DVT anyone? When we asked if we could move Claudia said that her legs were cramped too..... Que? The Hub: should have been renamed The Pits. There is insufficient time or space to log the inadequacy and disasters of this trip. Never ever use Newmarket Travel again.

Birmingham Single traveller
Coach travel was far too long and arduous would not choose this again for any long travel holidays. The included tour up the "wild coast" on Christmas Day was disappointing and not very scenic as portrayed in the original holiday details. Otherwise the holiday in general was good and tour guide very informative.

Apart from food at hotel the rest of the experience was best fo4gotten. Even the hotel fell short on providing no means of getting morning drinks until 8 a.m.

Why it was promoted as Christmas in Barcelona mystifies me - we had four hours! as it was 30 miles away from where we stayed.

Tour guide was useless - more concerned with his own comforts than anyone else.

An excellent young driver - the older one was more interested in flirting with one particular on the journey down changing preferences for a much younger female on the return journey.

Journeys were far too long - breaks often rushed and ending in utter chaos on final return when for some reason the older driver seemed hell bent on getting us back before anyone else, which resulted in mixed instructions as the co-ordinator was not there. As a result I ended up sitting on a very cold coach for over two hours - unsure as to when we would be departing. I sat frozen for a further hour until I was able to move seats as passengers left. The next day I took to my bed with a severe chill for four days - so thank you for a lovely holiday!¬

We are very sorry that you and your partner were left disappointed by aspects of the arrangements and that the journey time was so much longer than you had anticipated.

The cost of porterage is not included in the cost of our holidays unless specifically mentioned. Some hotels will provide it at a supplement, payable locally, but I am sorry if this was not offered.

We explain in the Further Information section of our brochure that tea and coffee making facilities should not be expected in European hotel rooms. This is mainly a British tradition, although some of the international chains do provide them elsewhere.

We are pleased that you hope to travel with us again, however and hope you will find something to tempt you rather closer to home.

Taunton Couple
We were very tired on our return to Taunton, having got up at 6.00 am in Paris, arriving home 10.00 pm.
There was confusion when we arrived at Stop 24 on the outward journey. We were told to get something to eat, although no-one seemed to know how long we were staying. We managed to drink half a cup of chocolate before we were summonsed to the coach.
Confusion again on the return journey at Stop 24 as coach numbers were changed which made for a stressful time.
