Arctic adventures and a private meeting with Santa

In December, take the kids on the trip of a lifetime, and watch their faces light up when they see Santa in a true Winter Wonderland.

But let’s rewind: from the first minute, this trip to Lapland feels extraordinary. Step aboard one of Newmarket Holidays’ privately chartered planes, which fly from a wide range of regional airports, and experience the excitement as you fly to the Arctic Circle. Little ones will want to press their noses up against the windows to watch the scenery move from the rolling fields of the UK to the snow-capped trees of Lapland. Touching down in Pajala, a Newmarket Holidays exclusive, you’ll find yourself in remote Swedish wilderness, being able to take in the crisp, snowy surroundings before you’re whisked off to the next part of the day.

Now the real excitement starts. Buckle up as you ride to Santa’s village, where you’ll have the place completely to yourself! You can spend the afternoon exactly as you want: race huskies across frozen fields, zoom through pine forests on a snowmobile ride and feel the true spirit of Christmas on a reindeer ride, all illuminated by red lanterns, as well as the orange glow of a winter sunset.

Unbelievably, this is all before lunchtime! You’ll have a chance to rest and take a break, enjoying a hearty lunch and a steaming berry juice before heading back out into the snow for some more fun. Then, finally, it’s time for the big event. What the kids have been waiting for this whole time. You’ll be taken down a secret path in the woods, to add to the mystery of the big man in red, before finally having a private meeting with Santa Clause. Whether they want to sit on his lap and chat, or reel off all the reasons they should be on his ‘nice’ list, the choice is all theirs.

With this magical meeting over, you’ll then be flown back to the UK. The little ones will have memories that will last a lifetime, and you’ll all be pleasantly exhausted from a fun-filled day.

Further Information

  • Holders of full driving licences can take the controls. For children under 15, there will be the chance to be pulled along in a sleigh.

  • Temperatures rarely rise above freezing, and can sometimes get as low as -35C. If the temperature becomes so cold that activities become unsafe, we may move the location or time of those activities. Due to the very cold temperatures that can be experienced in Lapland, this trip is not recommended for anyone aged 4 years and under.

Thermal wear for all sizes is provided at Santa's Village for your use during the day, but we recommend that you bring a suitable hat, gloves and outerwear (plus wear lots of layers) for travel between the aircraft and the village. Footwear is also available if you do not have your own boots. Please note: wellington boots are not considered suitable footwear as unlikely to have enough grip for the slippery conditions.

  • No catering is provided on the outbound flights from the UK. A traditional hot Swedish lunch will be provided at the village, however there are very limited choices, so if you have fussy eaters in your party we recommend taking your own food and some snacks with you. Hot berry juice will be available throughout the day. Light meals will be provided for your inbound flight.

Due to the remoteness of the location, we are unfortunately unable to fulfil any special dietary requirements. We'd therefore kindly ask that any customers who suffer from allergies also take their own food for the day. You may also like to bring treats for your children to snack on during the day.

Due to airport security, liquids must be purchased after you have passed through Passport Control and you should not purchase “Duty Free” liquids at your UK airport.

  • Visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice to find out the latest Foreign And Commonwealth Office travel advice for your holiday destination, as well as information about passports and visas.

  • British pound sterling (GBP) may be used to purchase drinks, snacks and souvenirs in the small gift shop. Valid credit/debit cards are accepted but please note that these transactions will be charged in Swedish krona (SEK).

  • Please make sure that your travel insurance has adequate cover for any activities you may wish to participate in while on holiday (this may need to include winter sports cover).

  • To view our booking Terms and Conditions for Lapland day trips please click here.

  • An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.

  • Rules may have changed since you last travelled to European Union countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The following are useful guidelines which will help you prepare for your next adventure. You do require government issued passport to travel.

Names - It is very important that all passenger names are exactly as per your passport although we do not require middle names.

Passport - Your passport must meet two requirements to travel to an EU country and to Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. It must be: Less than 10 years old on the day you return home (please check the "date of issue") and valid for at least 3 months after the day you return home (please check the "expiry date").

Visa - You do not need a visa for short trips to most EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You’ll be able to stay for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period.

European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS) - Commencing in late 2023 or 2024, all citizens of the United Kingdom will require a ETIAS electronic form completed prior to their arrival into the EU and Schengen member countries. The cost for this travel authorisation will be €7.00 per person with exceptions for under 18’s and over 70’s. The latest information and further details can be found at www.etias.com.
