Day One

Board the coach at your pick-up point, and travel to Dover to cross the Channel and continue to Frankfurt and your overnight hotel.

Day Two

Continue travelling south this morning, boarding Olympia in Linz. Enjoy a first meal aboard, perhaps stepping ashore to enjoy the atmosphere of this cosmopolitan home of the famous Linzertorte, before Olympia slips away downstream overnight.

Day Three

Olympia arrives in Melk, beneath Austria's most celebrated Benedictine Abbey, Stift Melk. Join our optional excursion here and explore the vast church, ornate Baroque interior, Imperial rooms and museum. This afternoon, Olympia heads into the stunning Wachau valley, before mooring close to Vienna.

Day Four

Board the coach, this morning, for the short transfer into Vienna. Discover the city of 'coffee and cake' - whose greatest glory is the Hofburg Palace - on our optional guided tour.

This afternoon, another optional excursion brings the opportunity to visit the Schonbrunn Palace, the Imperial summer home, where the opulent salons once echoed with performances by the young Mozart.

Day Five

Join the crowds on deck, this afternoon, to watch Olympia's unforgettable arrival in Budapest. Our optional guided tour of the 'Pearl of the Danube' is the ideal introduction to this city of two parts - Buda with its colourful Castle Hill, and Pest with its Gothic parliament buildings and its old town's designer stores and coffee houses.

Day Six

This morning brings another chance to explore the Hungary's capital. After lunch, as Olympia slips away upstream, join the optional excursion to the towns of the spectacular Danube Bend. Visit Esztergom, with its great basilica and Baroque Szentendre, with its artists' colony, before rejoining Olympia in Visegrad, where entrance is included to the 13th-century fortress, boasting stunning views.

Day Seven

Discover the Slovakian capital, Bratislava, on this morning's optional walking tour. You'll see Gothic St Martin's Cathedral, splendid Baroque palaces and the city's ancient suspension bridge, before Olympia continues upstream this afternoon, cruising back into Austria.

Day Eight

Olympia's final call is at the delightful Wachau Valley town of Durnstein, with its castle where Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned. Enjoy an included walking tour of this beautiful place, then re-board the ship for a final cruise back through the Wachau's exquisite scenery, and this evening's Gala Farewell Dinner.

Day Nine

Bid "auf wiedersehen" to Olympia and her crew, and begin the return journey to the UK, stopping overnight in the Frankfurt area.

Day 10

After breakfast this morning, leave the hotel and continue your journey home.

Further Information

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your coach driver will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Very good, much as we expected. The main problem for us was the travelling to and from the ship from u.k..It would have been better to extend the holiday by two days, and have two overnight stops on route both ways,at extra cost of course, with a chance of seeing a little of the area at the stops, and be more relaxed at final destinations. As we don't fly now a coach is the only way of getting abroad

A very enjoyable holiday with the exception of the long coach mourned! Whilst driver Jim was excellent, and coach very comfortable, we were not prepared for the two long days journey there and back. Excursions to Vienna were disappointing and gave no time to appreciate the beauty of the City. Would suggest excursion includes the option of visit to Palace at same time rather than return to ship for lunch then out again.
Cruise director whilst pleasant and friendly was rather patronising in addressing passengers who were made to feel like 5 year olds on occasions.
Overall though a wonderful holiday thank you.

We would not go on this trip again due to the long travel time leaving King's Lynn at five am and arriving at Frankfurt at ten thirty pm. Also the journey from hotel to boat arriving at eight pm the next day. Our cabin was very noisy and we had very little sleep while the boat was travelling all night. I could not recommend this holiday to any of my friends. I spoke to Sue when we got back home and she said we should put this through your complaints department.

The length of the coach travel to and from the boat was a big negative!!! far too long, otherwise, bearing in mind how much we had paid, it was a good holiday.

Jim, our driver was exceptional. Very good, safe driver who looked after all his passengers well.
The places visited good although the walking tour of Vienna was a 'nothing' event. The tour 'host' odd!!
The Olympia boat was fine.

Great Overall Holiday. Ready for next one.
Only downside was the transfers which required 1 taxi and 1 feeder coach before we picked coach up at Thurrock.

Not enough time on land.
Boat was supposed to have just been refurbished.
Food was a la carte portions but not a la carte quality.
Too many delays with coach journey to and from boat.

Loved the holiday!! the coach trip was hard going, the hotel in Frankfurt was good , your timeline for the drivers wasn't so on the return trip we weren't able to have due to the fact that we needed to leave by 6.30 am to make the ferry for the allotted time - a lot of my fellow passengers were moaning the whole way back. the boat and the staff were fantastic , entertainment with George was awesome Bulgarian Denis Rousis, the food and the the staff were lovely so much so we have booked up for there Christmas markets. Our tour manager Mary was attentive , informative and fun!
the trips we paid for were good although we would have loved to have more time to explore Vienna and Bratislava, a real gem- would have loved to have had an over night birth here as we did in Budspest to explore more
Am aware the city tours were a taster due to the sailing times but overall 10/10 and would definatly recomend it.
