Deck Plans

Click here to display the deck plans for this cruise.

Day One

Board the coach at your pick-up point, and travel to Dover to cross the Channel and join Olympia in the wonderful Dutch capital. This evening, enjoy dinner before the ship slips away from the dock and makes the short journey out into the Markermeer to her first stop - Hoorn.

Day Two

Wander the pretty streets of Hoorn before Olympia crosses the inland sea again and stop at Lelystad. This afternoon's optional excursion takes in the garden city of Apeldoorn and Het Loo Palace, former Dutch royal residence.

Afterwards Olympia heads back across the Markermeer and past Amsterdam's ancient heart to stop in Zaandam, where Tsar Peter the Great once lived disguised as a humble ship-builder, and whose windmills and colourful houses were once subjects for impressionist Claude Monet.

Day Three

This morning's unforgettable included excursion is to the world-renowned Keukenhof Gardens, where some seven-million flowers carpet the ground in a breathtaking display. Wander this floral paradise, perhaps stopping in one of the restaurants and cafes, or take a boat ride (payable locally) through the stunning gardens.

Rejoin Olympia in Amsterdam, and spend a final afternoon and evening on board. Alternatively, join our optional Amsterdam canal cruise - perhaps the best way to see the sights of the city and round off your time in Holland.

Day Four

Bid farewell to Olympia, and begin your coach journey home, arriving back in the local area in the late evening.

Further Information

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your coach driver will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Colchester Friends
Apart from the long coach journey out with no air conditioning (one of those unfortunate breakdowns) this short break was very enjoyable. The bulbfields are spectacular and the boat very comfortable , the service excellent.

St Neots, Friends
We were looking forward very much to enjoying this trip but was very disappointed with the 'classic promenade' cabin. Despite paying £90.00 per person extra for this upgraded cabin we were situated right next to the on board public toilets, reception and the lounge. If it wasn't for the fact that this was a short trip we would certainly have asked for a move to a different cabin away from these three very noisy areas. As we had previously cruised on MS Olympia (in 2013) and had a cabin further along the corridor, we had no hesitation in booking for this cruise, sad to say that this experience has left us NOTwishing to cruise again on this ship.

We really enjoyed our holiday and were very impressed with the ship and the service we received on board. Everyone was very helpful. (However, we did find the Newmarket Cruise Manager rather rude in the way he spoke to some of the women. He referred to at least three of them as men and told one woman he was sorry "the operation" hadn't worked well !!!!!
The only real downside was the extremely long coach journey from Calais to Amsterdam - SIX HOURS!! I do feel that this should be explained on booking because by the time you get your full details it's too late to cancel or make alternative arrangements. We were under the impression that we would be going from Harwich to the Hook of Holland never dreaming we would have to be travelling from Calais.
Other than that

Newmarket Couple
Sorry we opted for coach travel, but were under the impression that Eurotunnel would be used not the ferry, which would have made the journey shorter. Driver, although very good was unfamiliar with the vehicle and was unable to operate the air conditioning efficiently until later in the week, this meant the journey was a very long uncomfortably hot one.

Leicester Friends
A lovely holiday but I felt the morning we went to the bulb fields and then the afternoon in Amsterdam was too long. Repairs had to be done to the ship (not our problem) and we had to be off after breakfast and taken back after 5.30. Taking into account the age of most of the passengers I thought this was not ideal and maybe a bit of thought could have gone into this.

This was a great holiday, our first with your company......I dealt with Helena at your office and she was very helpful. The most difficult part of the trip was the horrendous long journey to Amsterdam. We were collected by taxi from Wymondham at 04.45 and met the main coach in Cambridge.....we had a long wait at Dover, the driver had to add some thing extra to the coach at Calais, along with the petrol.....this took a long time , then awful traffic jams and we finally arrived at the Olympia after 20.00...... During this time the weather warmed up and the air conditioning on the coach could not cope.......very unpleasant. There must be an easier and quicker way to get passengers there, if they are not flying......Norfiolk to Dover/Calais and up to Amsterdam is a very long way round......
We loved the boat, food , company, excursions etc...Peter was an excellent host. On the Wednesday the boat had to be hauled out of the water for repairs.....this gave us longer at the gardens, but we were not offered any compensation for this.....some people may have wanted to spend more time on board that day. So things to think about......

We had an awful start to our holiday, when we were greeted by a minibus in Nottingham at 4am with a driver that did not have a clue where he was taking us, nor did he have any map or sat nav to guide him when picking up in Loughborough. To make matters worse he had no glasses with him, and the minibus had no heating. After having enquired from 4 different people on the street as to where the road was for his pick up, I ended up guiding him with my mobile phone. At this point we were all shivering and wondering what on earth we had let ourselves in for. Once we were picked up by Brian at Leicester Forest East things improved dramatically, and our holiday was fantastic. Our return journey however from Leicester Forest East to Nottingham was again carried out in a very old minibus, with a driver who did not have a clue where he was going, and again had no means of guidance. If you can improve the start and finish you could end up with top marks.
