Day One

Arrive in Krakow and transfer to your hotel. Head out into the city this evening to explore your surroundings and wander through the central square, beautifully illuminated after nightfall. Sample some traditional cuisine and enjoy a drink in one of the many restaurants, bars and music clubs tucked away down its cellars and narrow alleyways.

Day Two

Discover this seat of Polish kings on today's walking tour. The mesmerising medieval heart of the city is the stunning Rynek Glowny - Europe's largest square - lined with boutiques and cafes. Browse the wooden stalls of the Christmas Market that surrounds the vast Sukkennice (Cloth Hall), itself a covered market, and see the traditional custom of Christmas crib-building at the Mariacki Church and Wawel Castle - two stunning examples of the city's gothic architecture.

This evening, soak up the festive cheer once again in Krakow's cafes, bars and restaurants.

Day Three

Today you're free to discover more of the city's sights, and to revisit the markets. Alternatively, join our optional half-day excursion to UNESCO-listed Auschwitz-Birkenau, where the buildings of the camp are left as they were discovered in 1944.

Day Four

Transfer back to Krakow Airport for your return flight home.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time to Krakow centre is 45 minutes from Krakow Airport, and 1 hour 30 minutes from Katowice Airport.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Luggage Allowance

Please note that for two people travelling together on one booking, or a single traveler, one piece of hold luggage is included. Additional hold luggage may be purchased at the time of booking at a cost of £30 per bag.

To be honest, we used Newmarket to fly us to Krakow, transfer us to and fro the hotel and book the hotel. We "did our own thing" whilst there as we know Krakow very well. We did join the Salt Mine tur and this was well organised and we loved the guide we had there (Sebastian). We did not get to know the Newmarket guide as we did not use him but others said he was very pleasant though was not on the visits with them- he used local people (He was English). Did NOT like Newmarket's policy of booking only one piece of hold luggage per couple (15 kg in total) in the price. Should have been given the option of one each. Golden Tulip hotel option was fabulous. Newmarket is good value.

Had a good time. The walking tour of Krakow could have been much improved if we had had whispernets (as we had at Auschwitz) We felt that we missed out on quite a lot because we couldn't hear what was being said. Otherwise a good break and local tour guides were very good.

We really enjoyed our first trip with Newmarket. The Hotel Logos was very central and it was so easy to navigate to the central square. However, the room was very basic and had a decide,y nasty smell of poor plumbing, strangely this did not emanate from the bathroom. Our fellow holiday makers next door also complained of the same smell, it was necessary to have the window open all the time as it was very obnoxious. I am only sorry that we did not report it. Besides this we did enjoy our short break, Simon was very helpful and very approachable.
