Itinerary

Day One

Join us before the coach boards the ferry to cross the Channel, or book an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Ashford, Kent, and board our coach when it stops at the hotel. Later this evening you'll arrive in Boppard, the picturesque "pearl of the Rhine", with its great Roman fort and its beautiful historic quarter. Board Olympia in time to enjoy a buffet dinner, and the warmth and welcome of your first night.

Day Two (Christmas Eve)

Early risers will be awake on Christmas Eve as Olympia begins her journey, past little villages, fairytale castles and beneath the legendary Lorelei (where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their end), to Rudesheim.

Spend the afternoon wandering Rudesheim's pretty streets, or join our late-afternoon optional excursion to enjoy an early evening wine tasting and see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musik Kabinett, before returning to Olympia for a special Christmas Eve dinner.

Day Three (Christmas Day)

A very relaxed Christmas Day sees Olympia sail downriver to Koblenz and Konigswinter, one of the Rhine's most delightful cities. Enjoy a celebration Christmas Night Dinner Party on board with a traditional Turkey meal on board, with live music.

Day Four (Boxing Day)

On Boxing Day, Olympia cruises back to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, and there's the chance to enjoy an optional excursion to the exquisite wine-producing town of Cochem, picturesquely set on the bank of the Moselle, the Rhine's pretty, smaller sister. The visit will include a chance for you to taste the lovely wines for which the region is famed, before returning to Olympia for a final evening's relaxation.

Day Five

After an early breakfast, bid "auf wiedersehen" to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as our coach carries you back across Europe and across the Channel to the UK.

Further Information

Flexible joining options

Our flexible joining options allow you to travel on any date, and as an added convenience we've arranged two possible pre-departure options for you. Make your own way to the Holiday Inn Ashford North and stay the night (car parking is included), and our coach will call for you at the hotel on the way to the Channel.

Alternatively, make your own way to the Stop 24 Services in Kent (M20, Junction 11), and board the coach there. Parking is available (payable locally), and we'll confirm the exact meeting point and time in your Joining Instructions.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Luggage

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Very disappointed as had to sit at same table with only one couple the whole 4 days. We have been on at least 15 boat holidays and have never not had free sitting.
The cabins are tiny and the bunk beds very very hard, even on top deck where we were. had to leave boat half a day early as my back crippled! Luckily we drove independently so had car nearby.
Food not very good, seemed like out of a catering pack. No dressing on salads which were very boring.

TOUR MANAGER NOT BEST PLEASED AND OUR DAY WAS COMPLETELY SPOILT BY WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MOST SPECIAL MEAL OF THE CRUISE. BEST MEALS WERE BREAKFAST, OTHERS TOO LARGE AND NOT WELL COOKED. STAFF WERE EXCELLENT THROUGHOUT.

PAUL

We were on the Christmas cruise but was lacking in Christmas spirit regarding the food offered on Christmas Day was nothing special and no crackers, etc., which would have given a party atmosphere for not much extra cost.
Brochure should have made it clear that the excursions over the Christmas period would entail that virtually all shops etc., were closed, and that our free time meant walking around with nowhere to go.
