Itinerary

Day One

Leaving your pick-up point in the morning we'll head to beautiful Oxford, the "city of dreaming spires". Explore the colleges, such as imposing Christ Church, head to the shops of the charming Covered Market, or simply relax and enjoy afternoon tea at England's first coffee house, the Grand Cafe.

Alternatively, join our optional excursion to stunning Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Learn how the palace survived the onslaught of 400 evacuated boys on the guided 'Palace at War' tour, marvel at the English Baroque architecture, and wander the award-winning formal gardens and 2,000 acres of 'Capability' Brown's parkland. We'll arrive back at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day Two

Find out how the intelligence produced at 'Station X' shortened the Second World War by two years on today's fascinating Bletchley Park self-guided tour, using excellent, multi-media guides. See the famous German 'Enigma' code cipher machines up close; and visit Bletchley's wartime sub-post office, believed to be an undercover mailroom with the secret address of PO Box 111 Bletchley.

In the afternoon we'll head home, arriving back in the local area by early to mid evening.

A smashing break spoilt by the Hotel and the day in Oxford. We should have opted for the visit to Blenheim Palace.

The overall trip was excellent, thank you, but I do have one or two ideas about how it could have been improved for us.

The coach arrived spot on time in Leeds, but the journey time to Oxford was far too long, and whilst I understand the need for multiple pick ups, but stopping for 30 minutes at the services just outside Leicester and then stopping again 15 minutes later at the Bus Station in Leicester seemed a bit ridiculous - surely we could have combined the two?

We were also allocated seats at the back of the bus which, as my father has mobility issues, was less than ideal.

However had just enough time in Oxford to see what we wanted to see, but some of the other passengers seemed disappointed with the lack of time they had at Blenheim Palaces, especially as the entry fee was so high.

The driver was super helpful, but the guide was disappointing, as he obviously knew nothing about where we were going or what the trip was all about, which was a shame - what little he did read out to us over the microphone , presumably from his guide book, was full of mispronunciations and made little sense.

The hotel was very nice, but the food at the evening meal was a disappointment, and we had to use two very small function, non-adjoining rooms, one with the food in and the other that was jam-packed with tables and seats in order to fit everyone in, instead of the restaurant as it had been booked for a private party, which was particularly difficult with having my father being in a wheelchair.

Whilst we were booked into a ground floor room, which was great, it turned out to be so close to the aforementioned function room with its live band and loud music, that we were not able to get much sleep, despite having such an exhausting day, which was a shame, as the room itself was lovely, and the hotel staff were splendid.

Breakfast in the restaurant was smashing, and the trip to Bletchley Park was mercifully short, and we returned to Leeds bang on schedule, although once again we could have done without the double Leicester stop offs.

I think that is about everything - please don't think we didn't enjoy it, because we did, but I have tried to be as thoughtful, honest and constructive as possible, in the hope that future trips will be even better for your guests.

Pity the tour manager left 2 of the passengers in Darlington Wasted time going back to collect them
Coach had a seat belt which didn't work saved by having a spare seat

This was an excellent trip, with plenty of time to explore the attractions. The hotel and the food were lovely, although our room was directly above a wedding reception and there was no chance of sleep until the windows in the room stopped rattling when the music went off at 12.30am!
