Day One

Fly to Cologne and join Olympia in the spectacular Rhineland capital. Enjoy dinner and your first evening on board, before Olympia sets sail for Andernach.

Day Two

You'll have time to explore the historic riverside town of Andernach this morning, before Olympia sails south through the Rhine Gorge. Passing beneath the fabled Lorelei you'll head to to Rudesheim.

This afternoon, join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried's Musikkabinett and enjoy a wine tasting before you explore the town's narrow streets, the most celebrated of which is the famous Drosselgasse.

Day Three

Early risers will notice Olympia leave her moorings before breakfast, heading to a lunchtime appointment in Mannheim. Join the optional excursion to beautiful Heidelberg, the 'Student Prince' city, and explore the twisting streets and lanes of one of Europe's most romantic settings, before re-joining the Olympia in Speyer.

For those staying on board, cruise with the Olympia to Speyer, once one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire.

Day Four

Around breakfast time, today, Olympia arrives in Plittersdorf. From here, an optional excursion offers the chance to visit to the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden before rejoining Olympia in Strasbourg.

In the afternoon, a second optional excursion brings the opportunity to discover Strasbourg, home to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, where the narrow streets and medieval buildings of the Petite France quarter create a beguiling maze criss-crossed with canals.

Day Five

Olympia arrives this morning in the quaint town of Breisach, from where you can join our included half-day excursion through the Black Forest. See Freiburg's spectacular red sandstone cathedral, and explore its Altstadt, before we return to Breisach.

This afternoon, you'll have time to enjoy Breisach - the views out over the forest region from atop its Gothic cathedral are lovely - before a Farewell Dinner on board in the company of the Captain and your fellow passengers.

Day Six

Olympia moors in Strasbourg this morning, and you'll transfer to the airport to board your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

*Offer applies to new bookings made between 1st and 30th September 2016 (inclusive) only. Prices shown when booking do not include the Buy-One-Get-One-Free discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. Discounts apply to all cabin categories. This offer is subject to availability, may not be used in conjunction with any other offer and may be withdrawn at any time. All fares exclude gratuities.

Cleveleys Couple
This was not a 6 day cruise it was 4 days. We arrived at the ship after a 2-30 hour transfer
from the airport at 0-15 am on the second day to be told:
a) Dinner consisted of a plate of sandwiches in our bedroom.
b) The all inclusive bar closed at 12 pm and if we wanted drinks we had to pay for them.
On the last day we were informed there would be no service after breakfast and that if we wanted a packed lunch it would cost £7. Hardly "All inclusive"!
The ship and crew were fine

Had an extremely enjoyable holiday from start to finish. Crew were helpful and friendly and the whole experience was very good. Loved the scenery and the onshore visits were to picturesque towns.

Had a lovely travel out by plane and minibus, staff and boat a wonder as always, only problem with cruise was the river and that was out of Newmarkets control but what was good was the Tour manager keeping everybody informed of what was going on.
Skipper and crew managed the vessel extremely well under the circumstances and eveyone seemed to enjoy the tour.
My only issue would be the Cologne airport on the way home had no decent facilities for a last meal..

Prior to leaving the information from Newmarketholidays was lacking resulting in phone calls to customer service. Documentation was lacking and inaccurate. Overall the holiday experience was very disappointing. The boat and crew were very good. Breakfast was fine but evening meal left a lot to be desired. After raising the issue of lack of food the " large portion" solution did not resolve the issue. For what we paid we feel we were really ripped off. The 6 day cruise was actually less than five days from leaving the airport to returning to the airport and we actually only had 4 full days. We do not accept that arriving on board at 8:00 pm on the first day and leaving at 7:15 am on the last can be classed as 2 days cruising. We did have 5 so called dinners and only 4 breakfasts as there was insufficient time for breakfast on the last day. Timings were an issue. As an example we were instructed to dine and as soon as everyone was seated the boat set off down the Rhine Gorge which is the most scenic part of the Rhine. To be told to look out of the right window to see..... was not the way to see the best part of the trip. A 1 hr deferment would have been considerate. Paying the price of a 2 week med cruise for a 4 day Rhine cruise is considered by my party as nothing short of scandalous.

Kent Couple
Flew at an ungodly hour to an inappropriate airport where no proper arrangements made to meet us. Excursions cancelled without good cause. Cabin small cramped and TV reception poor. No proper service on board and not all inclusive as paid for.

Meals and catering staff were good but the scenery was by and large boring and uninteresting.

Stopped at minor towns and failed to get to Cologne. Last day no service on board at all.

Clearly Newmarket are a cost cutting bunch of cheapskates.
